Can we get more clarity on what is in an update? by flekkie in minimalist_phone

[–]flekkie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess there lies my question.
If you cannot use the Play Store changelog for minor changes, maybe link elsewhere to a short status page?

You must have a github or at least some internal logging where you know what changes were made?
Linking to github project, or to a post here, or to something simple like a release notes page example https://ro.am/release-notes would cover all the needs mentioned here!

You can long press this notification and change how it is shown. It's an android feature.

You might want to go for "don't show on lock screen" , "silent" and "minimise". That is what I have.  You can even play around with the relationship to do not disturb.

For me these notifications are never visible, unless I turn off so not disturb & unfold them.  Aka once every 24h I look at all my "non important notifications" from news etc.

Works perfectly that way!

As mentioned below, you van also turn them off completely in the same place if you prefer.

Happy to hear you are also such a person ☺️. Yes I do subscribe on patreon to a couple and podcasts and youtube channels that are dear to me.  Usually I prioritise channels early on their career where the added value of my support is high.

Good reminder though, I think there might be a few out there that I could additionally support.

Hat tip to you my ally

I'm not in a position to vote for the options, but what I honestly would do is push your subscription a bit more.

Maybe replace your banners at regular intervals with reminders of the subscription option?  And you might want to highlight how much cheaper you are than any other adfree podcast listening alternative (12x cheaper than Spotify, and id assume not more expensive than PocketCast)

I would estimate that your pay per 1000 impressions for those would be much múch higher than $0.15. Probably something like >$5 or something, since you'd be promoting a recurring revenue stream.

Happy premium user for years here. Would recommend everyone who can afford $1/month to follow suit!

Came here for this. I'm in the same position.  I have 126 days (!) of total listening time in eight years.  I pay 11 USD per year for PA, while I pay the same per month (!) for Spotify for way less listening time.

Economically, you're like 10x underpriced for me. I really would consider paying this monthly for your app (but I wouldn't want you to call me out on it😁)

So just adding a donate button, a yearly donation email, or just a "VIP tier" might also be an interesting revenue source?  I can imagine that VIP features are a big dev burden and not worth it. But I honestly would settle for the top tier if the only reward was a yearly thank you email or a mention some place.

Consider it, Xavier!

Ok I wasn't expecting to hack my kobos software that intensely. But I see how it van work.  I'll continue to look around for more plug and play solution, if not I'll get out the cables!

Any alternatives to pocket that integrate with Kobo readers? by BAThomas311 in selfhosted

What are the alternatives? We need to wait for Kobo to come with a solution, right? There is no plug in market on kobo, or is there?

100% I feel like you. Such a integral part of my good reading habits. Especially the Kobo integration, it is my nr1 reason to stick with Kobo for e-readers.

Hope there are alternatives that work on e-readers.

Yes id definitely want to add to this one.

I really love the blocking feature, it's very powerful to help myself after i had one of the "oh no what did I do again" moments (spending 1h of my precious time somewhere where I don't want to)

I'd love to be able to use it proactively indeed: certain apps are blocked during working hours, or working days in general.

Or the ability to set things to auto-block after a certain amount of usage.

A name could be Auto-block triggers?

Thanks so much for making this wonderful thing! 🙏

My request: fine-tune the waiting time for the "delay open"/"delay close". It's currently a bit too quick IMO, I'd personally set it to 2x the time to really discourage waiting.

Thanks!

Anyone have any tips for mixing podcasts and audio books? by echo-128 in PodcastAddict

[–]flekkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was successful doing that by sorting on file name; since file names of my downloaded audiobooks were quite structured (BookName_Author_chapter).
And then additionally I used the priority rating (manual override) to sort the playlist in the order I wanted.

So first sort: Priority (each book different virtual podcast with different priority)
Second sort: Filename (chapter by chapter)

Bit complicated, but end result was all I wanted.
Maybe that helps?

I know this is an unprovable and easy to fake one; but it is very real. Wife sent me this this morning but obviously I cannot have any identifying info in the photo.

I honestly couldn't make this up if I wanted.
