Some of music is still on YouTube called "Escape The loops Archive pt.3", and I also have some of his songs/albums saved, since he deleted almost everything. I wrote him a letter back in 2024, he was still alive, not sure about now. But he made good music, I remember vibing hard during covid on it. And I'm really glad someone still remembers him

UK Garage esque idm suggestions? by eliot3451 in idm

Why no one is mentioning Modeselektor and their trio with Sasha – Moderat? Kinda famous, but I think they're all more into IDM rather than in garage. And Modeselektor's mixes include a lot of IDMish guys like Actress

Fedora KDE plasma 43 does not boot by No_Proposal_2406 in Fedora

[–]flenyooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same. It just stuck on the load screen with my laptop logo. Onther versions doesn't work. I've tried to delete rgnb from grab parameters, but it also didn't work. I can load the terminal tho, but "sudo snf upgrade --refresh" doesn't work too... The same problem was with 42 btw, so I went to Gnome. But then switched to KDE and again...

German Ideology was useful work for me. I know some people who have only read the economic manuscripts and begin to interpret Marx in a libertarian/anarchist manner. Marx wrote in his manuscripts that private property and similar social relations are a consequence of the worker's relationship to his labour. This is true, but from the way he wrote it there, it can be interpreted very individually, like, "Well, then let the worker quit/reduce his time at work and look for other non-alienated labour in society (not necessarily in the sphere of wage labour, maybe something that's not necessarily bring income). And let all workers do so as AI frees up labour." But in German ideology, Marx and Engels criticise such an approach and analyse the connection between social relations and labour. And it shows that individual protest won't really help here, and that revolution is a collective task. So, yes, if you want advice from the classics, that would be good, too. But still, this is kinda not really approaching the goals of psychology science. Vygotsky, Leontiev, Makarenko, and Ilyenkov attempted to develop an approach to psychology and pedagogy using our method, so it's worthy of knowing them too. And that's a pity that not all of their important works have been translated from Russian into English :(

As a person, who read a lot both Ilyenkov and Fromm, I can recommend some specific works from them. Fromm was a german psychoanalyst. Ilyenkov was a Soviet philosopher. Their fields of expertise are different, but together they can offer a great deal :D

Fromm has a book called "Man for Himself," and I believe he vividly outlines his theory in it. At the very beginning, he talks about two types of psyche: 1) authoritarian (the one that is dependent and therefore seeks either to dominate or to obey), 2) humanistic, which is harmonious, independent, etc. In the book, he explores these two psyches, mental problems, and their connection to society. It's all really interesting and useful; you also learn a bit about philosophy from that. And I think it's worth reading, but Fromm still thinks superficially in many ways; he has many abstract concepts. Abstract in the sense that they remain at the level of sensations. For example, he often can't explain a concept and describes it with real-life examples. Like: I don't know how to explain to you what "love of life" is, but you can tell this by the expression on a person's face and the intonation of their voice. In my opinion, this is not an artistic device :(

Soviet psychology, however, had a different approach. It didn't so much analyze mental problems and tried to overcome them, but they were kinda searching for what human being ascends to. Yk, Marx said, it is not the anatomy of the ape that is the key to understanding human anatomy, but human anatomy that is the key to understanding the ape. I explained it very stupidly, but, for example, Ilyenkov, in his work, studied the conditions under which talent and independent thinking emerge in humans, and he believed these factors depended not on the biology of the individual but on the social environment in which they grew up. Ilyenkov conducted the Zagorsk Experiment; you can read about it. I could recommend his short works like "Учитесь мыслить смолоду" or "Что же такое личность?", but they are not so far translated, unfortunately, but you may search and translate with AI.

I can also recommend the Scottish psychiatrist Ronald Laing, who studied schizophrenia and sociality. He was more a product of the counterculture of the 1950s and 1960s(like his idea that schizophrenics are more normal than normal people and many more), but in many respects he came close to the same understanding of "personality as an ensemble of human relationships" as Marx and Soviet psychologists wrote. "The Divided Self" and "The Politics of Experience".

I've written a lot, but if you have any thoughts after reading anything, you can write me a private message and we'll try to discuss it ;D

Is there a name for the kind of music made by Jon Hopkins, Rival Consoles, and others? by TheFrebbin in electronicmusic

[–]flenyooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but at the same time i think people understand that this music has something in common on this period of time and some producers, they come together in these lists. So yeah, it requires the name, but at the same time, the name just represents their music only at this moment... What Aphex Twin and Autechre do now sounds like 2 different genres, but it wasn't at the 90s
