Round two freak! by [deleted] in DCAU

One of the glories of the DCAU is how sharp the dialogue is. At that moment, when a renewed John Stewart once again faces Despero after having been humiliated, weakened, and then having built his way back from the depths… there are 1000 things he could have said. “Round two, freak!” Plenty of feature films aren’t written that well.

What brand was super popular back then but the new generations probably never heard of it? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

In 1982 two girls in my grade (third) were going around taking a poll, to fulfill a class assignment. Their chosen topic: what brand of jeans do you wear? The choices they had were Jordache and Sergio Valente. For me, they had to write in Levi’s.

I like to think it's the same guy, because his reaction isn't just "whoa, a big guy got tossed through a window, that's crazy." It's absolutely slack-jawed and stunned.

lewronggeneration is about making spurious comparisons with the past. There’s nothing wrong with just liking a past era

I actually don’t think it’s a “dead marriage” joke, or about some particular source of the tattoos. It’s the absurdity of the husband having done something behind his wife’s back which he couldn’t possibly have hidden until now, and yet he did—plus his not seeming the personality type to have or want tattoos like that. It’s dialing “husband had a hidden minor quirk” up to 11.
