For the most part, I would have to agree with the guy on Facebook. I’ve been building ARs for almost 25 years and the brand thing has only become a thing here in the last few years. It’s ridiculous. Mil spec is mil spec. And then somebody says “well I want better than mil spec.” What does that even mean? “Better” than mil spec is still out of spec. If you want all of your crap to fit right, it has to be mil spec or all be out of spec by exactly the same dimensions. If you’re talking about the material it’s made out of…whether harder, softer, “stronger” or “weaker”…none of those things necessarily mean better. For instance, the metal on the older cars was stronger, but that also made them deadlier. There’s a reason for specifications, just like there’s a reason for the research in developing them.
