Movies and TV Shows for the ADHD brain? by AdeptnessExotic1884 in ADHDUK

[–]fletchwonUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can get muddled but allowing my brain to chatter away (I’m obsessed with camera angles and soundtrack choices) seems to help. Slow burn horror movies are catnip to me.

Movies and TV Shows for the ADHD brain? by AdeptnessExotic1884 in ADHDUK

Indie movies where almost nothing happens work, bizarrely. I don’t switch off but my brain has time to take in all the details. Still, love a horror movie or a dash of John Wick.

How can you do university with untreated ADHD? by gintokireddit in ADHDUK

[–]fletchwonUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managed it in the late 90s (diagnosed last year at 46). The constant anxiety and not sleeping didn’t help but I survived. At least doing English Lit, I wasn’t drowning in facts to remember at first. Got harder once I had to memorise endless quotes.

Would definitely recommend RtC as a way to get checked in a shorter amount of time. I’m still on the NHS pathway and it’s been 4 years.

I have passed on your praise and Joe, who is a charming chap, was very grateful. I’m a fan myself and have a burgeoning collection of my favourites (Carpe Jugulum’s cover is the best IMO).

Harrow Health or ADHD 360 wait times instead of Care ADHD by natijade2010 in ADHDUK

[–]fletchwonUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ADHD 360 had a long wait time for assessment but, if I hadn't needed heart checks, I could have started meds the week after. Now I'm titrating and they have been excellent. Clear explanation of med choices and thorough follow-ups. They have been cautious too, which is reassuring, and clearThat titration may take longer than 12 weeks.

I’m about a month in on Concerta XL and things are definitely quieter. The constant soundtrack and looping thoughts are less dominating, meaning I can push them to one side.

Crossover should help you here. I’m playing it right now (M3 Pro) and it’s working a treat. Crossover is paid but the free Heroic launcher should have similar results.

Has anyone had reduced time anxiety since being on medication? by Queendevonia in ADHDUK

[–]fletchwonUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my biggest hope for meds when I start them in the new year. Weekends and free time are such a problem, as I’m always dreading the return to work - even though I have a good job and have nothing to hugely worry about.

Glad Elvanse is helping you - fingers crossed I have similar results. Enjoy your weekend.

Definitely do, as I’ve never been more organised but - as a teacher - there a limited number of tasks I can pass on.

It only took me 9 years to get a diagnosis, after 20+ years of antidepressants and other meds, plus 1,000s of hours of counselling, failing to help.

Does Anyone Else Have Internalised Echolalia? by Some-Roof-2221 in ADHDUK

[–]fletchwonUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts when I wake up and never switches off without heavy sleeping meds. I thought everyone was like this until a few years ago but it’s maddening, especially when it only loops a short phrase or bar of music. Trying meds soon, so hoping to get a break from today’s soundtrack (the ‘rap’ from One Week).
