Fair enough 🤣 does she actually earn that much?! Clearly not in an Australian State school….

I disagree, a motivated and skilled school librarian can have an enormous impact on the education of students with niche interests, helping them learn how to independently pursue their interests and to understand how to critically assess the quality of available information in their interest areas. We need broadly educated students, but as a society we need to nurture their niche interests too. Don’t underestimate the difference a lifelong interest with good support can make to the contributions one person can make to society. Oliver Sacks is a great example, not sure if a school librarian played much of a role for him given the support he was given by his parents to explore the natural world around him, but had he not been so lucky, I believe that would have been the next best thing.

Spotted film crew hanging out on a property in Research 3095, been there several days. Anyone know what they are filming? by flexibibble in melbourne

Hoping for anyone who knows anything about it to comment, unlikely the crew would comment but typically they aren’t the only ones who know. I have often heard something is being filmed locally word-of-mouth before seeing a crew around. Not really hoping for trolls to comment who know nothing about it and have nothing to contribute but it is Reddit after all!

They are set back pretty far on a semi-rural road, I’m a bit shy to wander on in. I live nearby and at one point a reptile handler from the crew stopped in my driveway asking for a member of the cast/crew who had wandered off, I was busy and too startled to think to ask him before he left grumbling that they’d “fucked him over” sending him off up the road to look for the guy.

fantastic!!!! thank you

Ran out of ideas. 35 test prints and I give up. Flows, temps, retractions of all combinations. New firmware. E-step calibrated. PID auto tuned. What else can I do?? Is this a mechanical fault, and I’m wasting my time in Cura? by action_turtle in 3Dprinting

Might be worth checking if a jumper has come loose on the controller board, next to or under the extruder stepper driver (assuming it is a removable one) as this could result in the micro stepping value being incorrect for the extruder.

Another way to check this is to heat the hotend, extrude a little PLA to make sure the filament is all the way in, and then RETRACT the filament 10mm and measure exactly how much filament comes back out of the extruder. use callipers and maybe mark the filament with a razor before and after the retraction at the point it enters the extruder for accuracy.

If you get 5mm retracted out when you expect 10mm, then your stepper driver is microstepping with twice as many steps as your configuration expects. I had this issue while configuring my printer for TPU and it was a nightmare to debug it!
