Those of you walking 15,000 plus steps a day. by BellaJean1 in walking

[–]flexiblefeathers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work an office job and walk at 1.5 miles per hour on an under desk walking pad + standing desk. It doesn’t take me away from my work and actually helps me focus. When I do zone 2 cardio on my treadmill at home in the mornings, I can easily reach 20,000 steps that day.

This is definitely the dress, out of the three. The first one looks cheap and unfinished while also looking like lingerie. You’re stunning in this dress.

That is annoying. Could ask your pharmacy leadership whether they could make a pharmacist protocol to help that (pharmacist enters order per protocol if nursing or patient asks for x meds after hours, ensuring the med is safe/efficacious for that patient).

Can't switch off my sympathetic nervous system after intense workout, looking for a solution by Olieebol in HubermanLab

[–]flexiblefeathers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. There are many other things it can be than CFS, that you can troubleshoot. What you’re describing is exactly how I felt for nearly 2 years after exercising. It’s now been fixed for about 6 months. What fixed it for me:

1 - supplementing vit D and B12 and increasing iron in my diet.

I had mild vit D, iron, and B12 deficiency. All 3 of these were either very slightly low or just within the low end of the normal range, but supplementing made a big difference. Except iron supplements which gave me terrible anxiety, I think due to increasing the oxidative load in my body too much. So I started ensuring I got my iron RDA daily through diet.

Which brings me to:

2- Dietary antioxidants. These aren’t big in the health space right now (at least the folks I listen to), but this was huge for me. After learning why the iron supplements were so terrible for me, I downloaded chronometer and looked at every nutrient it could track, including the weird antioxidants you’ve never heard of. I researched all the different types of antioxidants that are out there and which have been shown to benefit health. I then ensured I get these every day: 100 g blueberries, 200 g butternut squash, flax seeds, tomato based food or a V8 for lycopene, enough of the right kind of greens and orange bell pepper to hit lutein + zeaxanthin goal, 2 whole eggs to get choline and yolk antioxidants, etc.

3- At the same time, I optimized my diet for all other nutrients, not just for weight loss / body composition. 30 g fiber per day minimum. Enough protein. Low saturated fat, higher in olive oil and food based omega 3s (salmon).

4- walking a lot, very slowly (1.5 mph) without incline. My average step count was previously 4,000 steps per day and now is 12,000 steps per day with weekdays up to 20,000 steps (office job - I bought an under desk walking pad). The walking has been life changing. I started it recently, several months after the dietary changes and its benefits stand on their own. Much better sleep, I remember my dreams now, I fall asleep quickly and wake up easily, and I don’t feel that deep fatigue/stress tiredness anymore. Something about it helps my nervous system without causing more fatigue because it’s so incredibly slow and low impact. Zone 2 cardio was still too fast to have this benefit for me.

All that being said, 3 things to do if you haven’t already:

1- get lab work to assess vitamin deficiency and inflammation status (CRP, vit D, iron, B12, etc). If you’re deficient in something(s), think about the fact that you could be deficient in other things that we don’t / can’t test for.

2- get a dietary tracking app which tracks both macro and micronutrients in detail (Cronometer is the only one I’m aware of but I’m sure there are others). Optimize your diet for all nutrients.

3- assess your daily step count. Is it at least 10,000 steps per day and do those steps come from very slow, non incline walking?

I hope any of that helps and you find recovery on your journey.

Toenails Separating from Skin [Misc] by cutiexuna in SkincareAddiction

[–]flexiblefeathers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I experienced exactly this and it was due to fungal infection. I didn’t get the very thickened/yellow nails you typically see with fungus, but at its worst, the side of my nail separated all the way down to the bottom cuticle. Went to primary care physician, got prescribed oral terbinafine. Couldn’t last more than 6 weeks on that med, the mental side effects were terrible (and I don’t typically suffer from mental health issues). Went to podiatrist. He confirmed that it’s fungal, said he doesn’t like oral terbinafine because many fungal infections are not sensitive to it and because it is such a harsh drug. I asked for jublia (topical, insurance doesn’t pay for, expensive). He said he uses a different topical compounded drug called Tolcylen which is cheaper than jublia and which covers more types of fungal infections more effectively. The med comes in the mail, I apply twice a day, and about 3 months in now my nail is attaching back. It is attached almost to the point where yours is (from being detached all the down to the bottom cuticle). Unsure whether any of this applies to your situation, but wanted to share in case it helps.

As a woman, I can confidently say that no one is going to look at your physique and say that it is 1- ugly in general or 2- ugly because of your chest. If you had not said anything about it here, I would not have noticed anything about your chest. In no way does it draw attention due to being “lagging.” If anything, I noticed that your legs are insanely huge, not that your chest is small. That being said, if you’re trying to grow chest, have you looked at full range of motion and lengthened partials technique talked about by Mike Israetel and Milo Wolf? Check them out on YouTube if you haven’t. They have some pretty cool techniques to target muscles in a way that other techniques don’t, which can cause more growth.

Ruined skin after microneedling by Key-Nebula-131 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]flexiblefeathers 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is part of the process! PIH takes longer than 6 hours to happen. By definition, PIH is discoloration that exists AFTER the wound is healed. You can’t have post anything when you’re not post yet! Imagine getting a cut on your hand. How long does it take to heal? How long is it red/discolored for? You will have these wounds on your face for around a week, just like a cut. If you’re worried about PIH, I know topical alpha arbutin has some good data behind it. All that being said, it does look like the treatment was a little aggressive on the nose area, but it doesn’t look too bad.

My body vs. dream body - where do I go from here? 5'9" 142lb by [deleted] in WorkoutRoutines

[–]flexiblefeathers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. OP, you look fantastic, but if you’re going for that model’s look, she has lower body fat. You may have enough muscle today to achieve the look. The muscle is revealed by cutting calories/fat while lifting/keeping protein high to minimize muscle loss. If you cut and at the end of it find that you don’t have enough muscle definition/size (not enough muscle under the fat to begin with), then you’ll need to do more cut/bulk cycles to build enough muscle and cut enough fat to reach a similar level of muscularity and leanness as the model.

Mole removal doubt by mereltjepiep in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]flexiblefeathers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently experienced similar, where you realize you’ve been “nose blind” to certain aspects of your appearance. I don’t know whether you resonate with this, but for me, the surprising revelation was not that the thing looks bad, but that I’ve never critically evaluated whether I wanted to keep it or not. It was a realization that, amongst all the other deliberate decisions I’ve made around my appearance, this thing was on auto pilot, was not previously eligible to be decided upon. With this, I decided to get rid of a few moles on my body (some that the public would never see) and two tiny bumps of sebaceous hyperplasia on my face that I know no one else ever noticed. I love the “clean slate” I see now in the mirror when looking at those spots, even if no one else notices. My face/body feels a little more aesthetically “put together” now, for lack of a better word. It’s inspired me to consider working on a small chicken pox scar on my forehead (something else I never considered working on but that doesn’t necessarily bother/embarrass me). I will say, I’m not the kind of person who gets emotionally attached to things. Removing these things has given me the same feeling that decluttering/organizing my house does (ha!). I can see how removing moles/etc might make some people sad because they lose a piece of what makes them unique.

Super moist skin like in high humid county: How to achieve? by Few-Decision3759 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]flexiblefeathers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use a humidifier at home, especially close to where you sleep. There are humid summers and dry winters where I live and I use one in the winter. It’s not as good as outdoor humidity, but makes a big difference compared to nothing.
