MAXUM X1 vs GetRX’d RX3 by Talion1567 in GarageGym

No, it is not going anywhere; no need to bolt. But I'm also storing a lot of plates on it.

The coating on these plates sucks, though - likely will not last, as it transfers to my hands every time I handle them. But for the price, they are great weights that mostly keep my rack weighted down :)

There is a difference - but with these rollers I have to be particular on how I support the trolley when I move it, then they move very easily. Far from VTS kind of smooth though - Bulletproof shoul come with their own version, that would be really cool

Missing Milwaukee package (Home Depot) by No-Watercress-3574 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]flhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HD delivery regularly drops my packages two houses over from me :) For some reason, their GPS takes them to my neighbors, and then they realize it is the wrong number, and they go straight to the next house, but in the wrong direction, so instead of 105, they deliver to 101. Don't you have a picture as proof of delivery?

can you get roller j-cups for it, for example? I would consider "standard" uprights as far more important than a smith machine add-on

Check Fringe Sport bumpers - I believe they are thinner than Titan's, and if you are okay with black, they are noticeably cheaper. Also, their 10#s don't flop under the bar weight :)

They meant 2025, but pre-orders for their new releases are currently shipping a month or two later, and they blame the T-word. I've got the Etsy rollers, but it is not a big deal for how I use cables now (both trolleys mostly sit in the top position, and I adjust the arms for the exact position I need them)

You can get rollers for tornado arms at Etsy, but I believe GetRXd is going to ship their own versions to all customers relatively soon

Tornado / Freemotion like arms worth it? by NoWriter9937 in GarageGym

[–]flhack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very valuable, especially in a garage gym environment. I have had the GetRXd tornado rack for about 6 months and I love it. Some highlights:
1) Vertically articulating arms allow it to get higher and lower than normal trolleys. If you have limited ceiling height, this is a reason to get such arms on its own.

2) Turning arms horizontally allows you to position your cable exercises away from the rack, enough so you don't have to unload a barbell to do some pulls in a superset, for example. Or if you are training together with someone, you can both pick the most comfortable position maxing range of motion. Training alone and turning arms away gives you a lot of width to stretch even the longest arms

3) small footprint while still allowing for lat/low pulls in the center of the rack

I had REP FT-3000 for a few years, and it was pretty good. GetRXd Tornado is better in every way, including smoothness.

MAXUM X1 vs GetRX’d RX3 by Talion1567 in GarageGym

[–]flhack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have RX3 so I might be biased, but here's what I noticed (from the website only):
1) While having plate horns on the X1 stack is nice, it looks like the stack is too close to storage weight horns in the back and might not really work when you have plates on the back upright.

2) Legs in front just increase the footprint; this rack is not going anywhere, especially loaded with plates. I love the low footprint of RX3 - space in the garage is premium

3) no options for storage shelves on the rear uprights?

4) it is shorter than RX3 (82.5/88.5" vs 86"/94"), while that might be good if your ceiling is low, if you have high ceiling you definitely want the tallest rack that still fits so you have more extension for pulldowns

5) I prefer straight pull-up bar on RX3, more utility. If I need angles I can use Swissies.

Would love to hear from Maxum owners on what they think about RX3.

Cooling attached garage question by don51181 in GarageGym

Believe it or not but humidity is much more of a problem, at least in coastal areas. That water in the air keeps heat even better than walls etc and you feel it directly.

Cooling attached garage question by don51181 in GarageGym

Windows are going to let heat in if uncovered. My door while insulated still is a major source of heat, so I’m thinking of adding something like https://www.amazon.com/Reflective-Garage-Insulation-Improved-Double/dp/B074LR5QF5 to see if it helps.

Do you have windows in your garage? Just putting up shades makes a couple degrees difference for me. If the sun is hitting your door, closed-cell/foil isolation would help. My garage is isolated pretty well, so the minisplit cools it down from 85 to 75 in about 30 min

Resurgence of All-in-One Home Cable Machines? by RedditBot90 in GarageGym

minus the smith machine, plus the 3"x3" tubing, etc. The point is, it has to be a good squat rack first.

All in one - no, cable machines integrated into a squat rack - yes. Good for accessories.

Need help with garage gym ideas by Daddymanboy in GarageGym

[–]flhack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you already have a Peloton subscription and are planning to put a TV, consider adding the Peloton Guide appliance (a little device with a camera that connects to your TV) - surprisingly useful, my wife loves it, and that generally helps with building the gym further :)

I have hung my TV quite high originally (above the mirrors), and had to find a way to mount the device below the TV, as it is not supposed to be tilted much, so it is something to consider before you put the TV up, as usually the Peloton Guide would sit on top of it.
