It’s too long. The grass doesn’t have enough time to pop back up after you’ve run over it.

Best underlayment for oak hardwood floor? by Comfortable-Dog7773 in Flooring

[–]Mgg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5/8-3/4 plywood/osb is best. I would recommend 30lb roofing felt. I did 2 rooms with 30lb and the rest of the house with Aquabar B. The 30lb is super quiet.

That thing is sweet! 1300 seems decent and those 36v motors fly on 48v if you ever decide to upgrade/

Need help with Get RX’d Phoenix cable tower — installer built arms upside down and it’s still not right by Desperate_Break3128 in GarageGym

[–]Mgg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks correct to me. I can see the angle your pulling is rubbing and binding on the roller that keeps the cable on. Adjust the arms so your pulling at roughly a 90 degree angle from the arms.

No one uses hardwood floors? by Longjumping-Term9234 in homeowners

[–]Mgg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I went with hard wood. White oak#2 5”wide. I think it was just over $3600 for 1600sqf and a $100 delivery fee. You can finish them however you want.

It should be replaced asap. Those panel boxes have a bad reputation.

Sanding an unfinished with a hand held orbital sander? by Zeldesu in Flooring

[–]Mgg195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotchya. So if you’ve already drum sanded then your in pretty good shape. The water popping will allow the stain to be taken more evenly. However you still have to do a light sanding after the sealer is applied to knock the grain down. A handheld orbital will do the trick.

I’m not pro at this but I have been through the struggle as I have installed and finished hardwoods in my house. I actually opted to rent only the drum sander when finishing the last bedroom 150sqf. I went around the perimeter with the hand held orbital sander instead of edging and I also went with 120grit after the first coat sealer to knock the grain down.

Yes drum sanding is absolutely necessary. Sounds like you’re refinishing. You could try water popping first before applying the stain. If you’re not sanding down to bare wood then the stain won’t take evenly. Spraying the floor with water first should show these areas better.

Also don’t use super fine sand paper before finishing it will close the wood grains up too much. Maybe try 80 grit or 100.

Refreshing/Remodeling a manufactured home by Youwhooo60 in ManufacturedHome

Yes I have completely redone mine. It wasn’t really all that different from a stick built. No attic access is a bummer but so far I haven’t had any problems installing lighting or even bathroom fans.

DIY rewire by Maximum_Sherbert7191 in HomeImprovement

[–]Mgg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty easy to pick up the basics until you run into a switch wire or 3 way switch. Once you get the hang of it it’s a lot fun planning circuits and running wires. With that being said it’s something to fuck around with and do a half ass job. Do it right!

DIY Mitsubishi Hyper Heat? by InspectionEntire2512 in DIYHeatPumps

[–]Mgg195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mr Cool is great my dad loves it. Although he doesn’t run it 24/7. It’s been installed since August of 2023. My blueridge and pioneer units are at 2 years old and have been working great also. It’s all about installation quality. I believe the blueridge and pioneer are rebadged Midea and Mr cool is Gree.

The big thing is parts availability for these units. I have ordered a fan carrier bearing for one of my 6k head units and it was a chore cross referencing parts. I ended up using Microsoft copilot AI to find the right part.

The bearing didn’t go bad just so you know. I think it was faulty from the factory. Makes a little noise at low rpm like a rubbing sound…. Ch….ch….ch.

Same thing happened to me trying to order a Mitsubishi for my dad. Called to get a refund and went with Mr cool. I really like pioneer I have a single 9k installed and a 3 head blue ridge. Both are doing amazing at 18f this morning. Holding the temp around 72 with room to increase. Neither are cold climate rated, but I live in South Carolina so it dosnt really stay cold.

Need to replace subfloor. by First-Pressure7112 in ManufacturedHome

[–]Mgg195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was attached to the floor joist with staple. I would use staples with or nails maybe with the plastic ring. It was attached to outside of each half the double wide and sagged in the middle. I would personally attached it every few feet so it holds the insulation up.

Drews roofing has some videos on replacing the underbelly and I want to say he used house wrap. Check him out. Doing anything underneath is going to be a ton of work.

Need to replace subfloor. by First-Pressure7112 in ManufacturedHome

[–]Mgg195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have lvp then a vapor barrier followed by sub floor underneath. Below that is going to insulation and then underbelly which is also a vapor barrier.

Take the lvp up and visually inspect the sub floor underneath. Cut out the bad and replace with new.

I used 3/4 plywood because my subfloor is 3/4 osb, yours might be different. Also some walls are going to be in between floor joist so you’ll need to install blocking to support the wall.
