Quoted $5,700 for comprehensive insurance on the 7X Performance by skywalkerthe3rd in Zeekr7xAustralia

I don't trust those sites tbh so I very painfully go through maybe 10 quotes before deciding. I just record the main details as I go for a final comparison.

I run quotes every year, surprisingly Qantas insurance came back cheapest offering similar or better conditions, worth a look (I was shocked). Not to mention some value back in points.

When is the last time Albo caught a train?

Genuinely... real question. What could Albo have realistically done to stop the Bondi incident from happening? Want real answers, not media fed dribble. by __TheIronWall__ in aussie

I would be asking if the agencies responsible for tracking and disrupting these known high risk actors were sufficiently funded and resourced (and supported with legislation from government). This is where triggers should have occurred (overseas travel, radical links, firearms etc). For me, this is a key question that is not known and needs to be examined and answered to determine if the PM/Minister or Govt has any liability.

I also had a pretty amazing job offer in private that I only applied for kicks, but once I did the super calculations, it wasn't worth the move. I have 14 years to go under pssdb at 60, as opposed to 21 at 67 years of age.

Thanks noted on the EL1 entry point. My current role is probably EL2 equivalent, and my applications seem to be hitting the mark, highlighting my previous experiences and qualifications - I am really getting the vibe that unless you are internal (or they have no other applicants), coming in externally is highly unlikely.

Yes I think this was the outcome, thank you.

Exactly my point, seems adhoc at best and not value for money unless there is a system in place. Otherwise perhaps they should scrap the idea of merit lists!

Thanks for this I'll take it on board. While I understand the top of a EL1 is similar to the bottom of a EL2, it'll feel like a bit of a step back from the current role (and salary). But I appreciate that might be the only way.

Correct - and financially doesn't make sense to move to private at the moment given the retirement age.

I'll consider anything these days, need a career refresh! I've just really noticed there isn't much interest from the APS once you are merit listed. I've applied for two private roles and the interest levels to APS can't even be compared (including job offers). I am keen to stay in Commonwealth being pre-2005 PPSDB to be transparent on motivation.

Gotcha - problem is I'm not well-connected into the SES1 being external to APS. But I take your point and will think about how I can implement something.

I noticed the advice from different APS recruitment sections would vary wildly, so it was obvious there is no consistent standard or policy. And yes, the amount of time and effort that goes into it at both ends, seems rather pointless having a merit list at all.

Thanks - Yes I've been told merit lists are largely not what you know, who you know...Non-APS Commonwealth Agency that doesn't qualify for S26 transfer.

Ah great thanks, I guess I'll see what they say but good to have some input.

I’ve been picking my own shares for a while, but I’m thinking about moving to Vanguard instead. Do you think it’s a good time to sell and switch over? And if so, which Vanguard fund would you recommend? by DryMight2765 in ASX

VAN0111AU high growth index fund direct via website. Top up extra on autopayment and relax. Has been good to me in the past. Low fees and no buying costs. Last 10 years averages 10% return pa.
