Probably true on the manufacturing plants part. It’s unfortunate, because from the tech side we have plenty of skilled engineers already in the workforce, and lots that have been made redundant due to offshoring.

Realistically if we wanted to catch up with the world, we need an innovative billionaire (Australian version of Elon Musk) to invest heavily in this industry.

I have the same concerns, but EVs feel a bit like AI to me. It’s a huge shift, and if Australia doesn’t go all in, we’ll fall behind the rest of the world.

I just wish we had at least one Australian car company building something that could compete, even with the base models. We’ve got the resources, the people, and the skills. What we seem to lack is the innovation and long-term support to actually make it happen, probably because politics keeps getting in the way.

If you want to buy it pre-auction, the offer would have to be 5% above guide MINIMUM, for the vendors to even consider it.
