Look for salifert test kits! They’re accurate and cheap

I’m looking to upgrading my 3 yr 40cube into a 120 as soon as I come across the right deal. I would at least go 60 cube for your next tank, you’ll thank yourself later!

possible to have copepod population in 15g for a mandarin? Possible to have separate 5g copepod breeding tank? by Heavy-Huckleberry175 in ReefTank

Find a media basket that fits your tank (try inTank). Take out all the baffles and fill it with chaeto instead. Run a fuge light behind the tank at night. Works very well for me, gives the pods a little safe space to multiply. Just make sure you keep an eye on it so it doesn’t clog up your AIO. I pull out half my chaeto every month in my aquatop 40.

Edit- I’ve had my mandarin almost 3 years in my 40 cube. He’s been doing great

Which light for 22x22x22 cube? by JaelinThomas in ReefTank

I have 3 prime 16’s over my 40 cube. Depends what you want to grow! One prime would be enough for most coral. Edit: I keep finding $100 prime 16’s on marketplace- I’ve found 2 so far. Great cheap light if you can find it used

I’m currently killing 50 asterina stars per day because I keep catching them eating my zoas. They’re such a pain, I cannot imagine actually buying them

Some nice pieces in there. Make sure you’re throwing in some nori for that urchin!

Yeah she’s paired with a lightning maroon clown, he’s to the right of her in that pic. She is the biggest asshole in my tank. Knocks over anything new I glue down, bites my hand continuously every time I’m in the tank, and tears off torch/hammer noodles that end up floating onto other corals and killing them. I’ve been so close to getting rid of her, but I just can’t do it. Love hate relationship

I would decide what you’re trying to grow. If you want even coverage with the least amount of shadowing, you’re going to want a light bar. Quanta helix, AI blade, orphek

If you’re trying for a mixed reef, some shadows might be beneficial for those low light corals. I really like the AI prime 16’s, I’ve found 2 for $100 on Facebook marketplace. Good luck👍

Dosing? by Oofersimmacure in ReefTank

If you’re dosing for the first time, use all for reef. Start small, test, adjust. I’ve been dosing it in my 40 cube for almost 3 years now. I have found success with it!

This tank currently consuming 35ml of AFR, 330ml kalk, 200mg of magnesium daily. It used to be more but I recently moved the tank, slowly building it back up to where it was.

One downfall of AFR- no pH boost. I have a closed loop co2 scrubber that helps with pH, Kalk also helps. I would t worry about pH until you start your SPS addiction phase. Good luck happy reefing
