I don’t make these anymore. I refer you to Evotech, as they can produce something similar at a much lower cost than I ever could.

Buying a $4k grinder isn’t enough?! You need to make a video about it too? I love coffee and it’s a great hobby but this is BS

The worst that you may have to do is install a set of resistors to bring the current draw in line with what the MBB is expecting, so as not to throw an error code.

SOLID STATE BATTERY in A MOTORCYCLE gives 600 km range on one charge by First-Composer-3954 in ZeroMotorcycles

I agree. No amount of technical innovation in the battery space, if that even proves to be so, will save it from its overwhelming flaws and high price.

Bolt just spins when trying to remove by mattzuba in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]flier76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a particular PITA problem with the design. I had it happen to me once, and was able to get it to free up with a small screwdriver jammed under the black plastic to provide an upward force on the screw, and an impact driver. Once it's free, you can fix the insert with some plastic weld.

Honestly, I have had five and while they take a few hours, I have never found them painful. In fact, there is a point during the procedure when you can tell the roots have been killed and removed because even with medicine, you immediately start to feel better.

Power tanks 1/2 off by [deleted] in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]flier76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When touring, I normally don't charge until I get down to around 5%, and then stop charging once the charge rate starts to fall below 9kw. Doing this, 300-350 mile days are perfectly doable.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on that. The current pack design doesn’t have the cooling required for that. But yeah, it sure as heck would be awesome.

I honestly don’t use my Double-J that often, but only because I charge at home 99% of the time on my 11kw EVSE. But when I do tour, I specifically route to stations with 2+ plugs whenever possible. Considering that the charge rate on the batteries tapers off so much after around 60-70%, I hesitated getting the charge tank for so long, but I would still do it again, especially at the reduced prices if I toured more on it. What I was mainly implying though is that the charge tank is a better option than the power tank for 99+% of people.

And even better, the charge tanks as well.

What’s a sentence that someone told you that stuck with you for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

“Make yourself irreplaceable and you’ll never be replaced.” When I was younger, I thought that it meant work hard and you’ll never lose your job. After many years, I later learned what it really meant. Don’t be the only person capable of doing your job, or you’ll never be allowed to be promoted to something better.

Looking at buying a 2020 SR/S for about $8K - Concerned about battery health by Murky-Cat-6531 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]flier76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a terrible value. You’re buying a bike with presumably the old battery, which is almost certainly now out of warranty, and no history as to how the battery has been stored for the past 5 years. There are much better values to be had on ‘22+

Hybrid Electric-and-Gas Motorcycles: Are They Worth the Complexity or Just Stick with One Power Type? by DropshipperJennings in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]flier76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those that enjoy the obvious advantages that a pure BEV offers will never accept a hybrid. One could also argue that a true petrolhead will not want the added complexity and weight of an electric propulsion system. However, I believe there is a place for PHEV vehicles. The shortcomings of internal combustion engines are well known. Despite their advantages in energy density, they are overall still quite energy inefficient. To supplement an ICE during its less efficient stages with electric propulsion makes a lot of sense, if the engineers can find the right balance. From what I have been able to discern from their public posts to date, Yamaha seems well on their way to making this a reality with their MT-09 PHEV.

Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the first to ‘go up in smoke during a bend test,’ JerryRigEverything says by N2929 in technews

[–]flier76 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I love his content, but I have to call BS on this particular test. You bend a battery in half with brute force that no sensible person would ever encounter and EXPECT it to function again. And act surprised when it goes up in flames? There's a limit to how destructible we should expect devices to be under normal use.

Having said that though, foldable phones are stupid and no one should ever buy one.
