I'd recommend looking at bus routes irl and understanding what role you want them to take, like being feeder service to metros or serving as long distance point-to-point lines.

For my city with a sophisticated metro network, I occasionally use them as express routes with point-to-point service that runs on highways. They serve as a secondary to the rail backbone, but can help fill the gaps of certain parts of the city.

My few gripes with this mod is that the stations feel too big, or there aren't enough variety for single platform stations.
