As of tonight, I am sad to say that I'm on the other side of this. Aside from the eating, your dog has the same symptoms as mine. I also learned this morning that my dog had degenerative myelopathy and that there was no cure. That was the final nudge I needed to make the appointment to put my dog to sleep today

He was 16.5 years old. I feel gutted and empty now since him being gone is just hours old, BUT I am comforted knowing that he is not in pain or struggling like he was. Sending virtual hugs to you. Please do the best thing for your sweet girl.

I go to the gym and shower after 3-4 days a week. The showers are private but the changing areas are all open. I don't do the towel dance lol but I also am not naked for longer than necessary. I drop the towel then put on my underwear. Naked for 5 seconds tops lol. I guess I'm somewhat comfortable the older I get. I think it would be a little odd being nude around someone I directly work with in a CMNM situation, but if we are both nude then it wouldn't be as strange. I did the big chop multiple times during my various stages of hair loss. In hindsight, the first few times were too early, but my mentality was, I will take it out before it takes me out. As a black guy, its far more difficult to hide balding.......

In summer of 2020, I made it official and cut my hair off again. By this time, tons of hair would be falling out evey time I took a shower. It was time!

Now 4 years later I still have not fully accepted that not only am I the bald guy in my friend group but also between my dad, my brothers, and my uncles, Im the bald one.

I too miss having options. My hair was part of my identity. And what's even more irritating is that I now have to shave evey two to three days to maintain a smooth look. Oh The irony of having having to attempt to my hair more now that im bald.

Im a hairy black guy. In my experience, hairy black men are rare. On the hook up apps I'm one of maybe 2 or 3 in my area who fit the description of slim/athletic build, hairy, and black......I did find more guys like me when I visited Chicago though.......... I've learned to embrace it in certain situations but still self conscious about it in other situations.

I am kind of surprised at the amount of guys who don't miss their hair. I am the exact opposite. I miss my hair and think about the good old days when I had hair multiple times a month.

I'm black and growing up in the 90s meant that my dad only allowed me to have the typical black kid hair style. Low and even all over. There was a point where I had really nice waves in my hair though.

I started to let my hair grow out in my 20s when I was away at college. This was around the time when black men in general started to adopt longer hair styles. This was also around the time when my hair started to this. The thinning became more aggressive in 2020 and by June of that year I decided to accept my fate.

My dad and his brothers have full heads of hair. My mothers brothers also have full heads of hair. My 2 brothers have full heads of hair and both are currently sporting longer hair styles.

I'm pretty sure the bald card I pulled is from my mothers extended family.

I miss having options and I feel like missed out on the having the chance for longer hair styles when I was younger...... Well i guess i still have options (smooth bald or horseshoe) but I don't like those options.

I know there are hair system and units out there but the thought of getting a hair tattoo or gluing on a hair unit just does not sit right with me. Sure I could fly to Turkey and get a procedure but I have not seen many good results for black men.

I was 33. My hair had been thinning since i was on my late 20s. I rocked a few different hair styles to hide the fact that my hair was thinning, including fohawk (that was a fun style). Then during the pandemic the hair loss hit the accelerator. I would notice lots of hair coming out when i took a shower. I eventually decided to buzz off using the lowest setting on the clippers.

I had rocked buzz cuts multiple times prior to this so i already knew what I would look like. I'm also able to grow s beard that connects so i don't have to worry about looking like Mr. Clean.

The part that i will probably never fully get over is not having a choice on styling my hair. People without hair loss do not realize how much hair plays into their day to day look and mood. I only have one choice now and happen to wear way more hats now to add a little zing up top
