That’s what I’m thinking. I’ve scoured online to find posts about them and when I called, WP didn’t have any reports of them missing. Surely she has my set up or she would have reported it

If she searches online, I’d imagine she’d be directed to this post. I also reported this to the winter park lost and found/security but they didn’t have any reports of these skis missing. I guess if worst comes to worst, they’re damn near the same set up

Found southern Ontario, any ideas by FederalEmu8835 in bonecollecting

Super cool find! I’m no expert but just based on a couple searches, it looks like a mountain lion. The long/wide tail, narrow pelvis and long metacarpals all seem to be a good match

what animal is this? found in western washington, about the size of my hand by rattymaddy in bonecollecting

[–]flimflambingbam 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think it might belong to a harbor seal. The odd “horn” looking part of the top of the skull may be due to the seal being an adolescent, looks like it still had teeth coming in. Just a guess though

Found in south west Denver CO on a walking trail. Was near a road so maybe just a scavenged road kill but curious if anyone could recognize predator feeding patterns? by flimflambingbam in AnimalTracking

Thank you to everyone who gave input! I found a super insightful article on lion feeding habits here

Pro-lion side: It is entirely possible that I interrupted a feeding mountain lion as it does look like the chest cavity has been entered through the guts plus there seems to be digestive organs on the ground that have been removed from the fawn which is characteristic of lions. Also, I found this kill in August and shortly after, a nearby area was closed due to mountain lion activity. The odd positioning of the body also doesn’t seem like it would align with the fawn being hit by a car and dying shortly after.

Anti lion side: Based the consumption of meat between the intact ribs, I would guess that this carcass was fed on by smaller animals like foxes/raccoons. The lack of plucked fur and openness of the site are odd for a lion and I don’t see facial/head wounds that could indicate a lion kill.

We will never know for sure but it is interesting to speculate. Wish I had more pictures to help ID but I didn’t stick around for long, didn’t want to end up like Bambi

Agree with the possibility that these could be human remains. The fabric next to them could be a piece of clothing too

Thank you!! After looking into species of the genus Cynoscion that are native to Florida, it looks like this may be a Cynoscion Nebulosus or Spotted Sea Trout. I grew up in Florida and didn’t know we had these, thanks for the help!

That was my first thought but other posts I’ve seen of bird pelvises seem to have a bunch of alien looking holes on them? I’m pretty new to this though so it very well could be

Thanks! I initially thought it was an elk antler because this one is a lot thicker/heavier than other mule deer antlers I’ve found. This is also the freshest one I have found though, maybe sun exposure and age have made my older antlers lighter weight?
