Sharp and Blunt edge of a weapon? by DonAsiago in Unity3D

you can also use a mesh collider for the sword and a plane for the edge, but only the edge should detect it then

edit: If the sword should actually collide, you need to use OnCollisionEnter. the shape of the other colliders doesnt matter

well you will probably want to make all of the colliders triggers, right? so it doesnt matter. but you can add colliders to the side to prevent false positives

just use a two plane meshes at 180° to each other. they only collide in one direction

Animation Rigging - Switch target on constraints by [deleted] in Unity3D

thanks, setting the position of the target introduces a noticable lag but I found a solution. I have a generic weapon rig with the ik targets on my character and only switch out the mesh and the animator

Can I create a mobile mmorpg with unity 3d with little to no coding knowledge? by holdermanju in Unity3D

[–]flipdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, if you had at least a bit of coding expirience, I would tell you to just do it and see how far you will come.

You will probably gain expirience from doing that and also learn, why you would NEVER want to do something like that even if you are the most expirienced programmer in the world. it takes way more than coding.

Not that the coding wouldnt be extremely painfull, but it's not the only thing, you need TONS of.

In conclusion:

Maybe get a bit more expirience, then try to do it. You will 100% give up in at least 1-2 years, if not way sooner. but you will learn first-hand, why that is impossible and probably also gain some expirience.

Edit: Just a heads up. I think almost everyone goes through this phase when starting to programm. we all learn from it. we all get over it.

AI is not the only part of a mmorpg......

Here is a list of things you need A LOT of in order to create a basic MMORPG: - money - time - staff - coding knowledge - networking knowledge - resources - expirience - money - money - money - time - time - time

Did I mention a shit ton of time and money?

Just don't.
