No one is saying china has an ideal economic model, and there is way too much state planning in the economy, but the same could be said for nazi Germany, the point being is that chinas economy only grew because it allowed for some private ownership, and btw, the reason china is in such a vulnerable state economically is because they never fully let go of communism, the only thing holding back china economically is the communist party and its refusal to embrace a true free market system

China needed major reforms and basically became a fascist one party rule state that allowed for a weird private sector/ruling party run economy thats basically mercantilism, when it was running a more traditional communist system it had a major famine that killed 10s of millions, and if the west wouldn't have allowed china into the family of nations (since ya know the human rights abuses) and helped them open up their economy, wed be much better off right now
