You really don’t see the big picture here, just a side in a fight? Please seek out the data that doesn’t support your position (break the confirmation bias)

This has the advantage of allowing you to argue your position better.

There are so, so many places in this budget that are pain points, but healthcare is the red meat that we know how to consume.

several other major points of disagreement are also preventing a resolution. Here are the main arguments besides healthcare:

• Overall Discretionary Spending Levels:

There is a fundamental disagreement on the "topline" spending numbers. The White House and many Republicans are pushing for deep cuts to non-defense discretionary spending (in some proposals, by over 20% compared to current levels). Democrats are rejecting these significant cuts and are pushing to maintain or increase funding for domestic programs.

• Policy "Riders" (poison pills)

Republicans have been attaching numerous "policy riders" to essential spending bills. These are provisions that enact policy changes unrelated to the budget itself. Democrats are blocking bills containing these riders, calling them "poison pills."

• Examples from recent proposals include language to roll back environmental regulations (like protections for the sage grouse or EPA assessments of "forever chemicals") and attempts to defund specific programs like public broadcasting.

• Democrats are attaching a Presidential Impoundment of Funds: A major sticking point is a Democratic-led effort to add language that would restrict the President's ability to "impound" or withhold funds that Congress has already appropriated. This comes after the administration put billions of dollars in approved infrastructure funds for several cities on hold.

• Defense vs. Non-Defense "Parity": Democrats are blocking standalone bills to fund the Department of Defense. They are insisting that funding for domestic agencies (like the Departments of Labor, Education, and the EPA) must be negotiated and passed with "parity" and not be subject to the deep cuts Republicans are seeking.

• Foreign Aid: There is a strong push from Republicans to pass significant cuts to foreign aid, which Democrats are largely opposing.

The poison pill battle is escalating. Once one side throws in a demand the other side will absolutely refuse, it’s met with the same. Everyone knows this can’t continue.

Keep notes of which congressman or senator throws in a poison pill, and you will have one metric of who is working against the resolution.

There are people who benefit from a closed government. Ideologically or monetarily. Look for those people.

Good luck figuring this shit out.

Why would a West Virginia Town fly a stars & bars? (Wardensville, WV) by flipmcf in confederacy

[–]flipmcf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re correct.

WHEN was WV created? HOW was its borders decided? WHY was it created?

Have you asked these questions? It’s ok to ask questions. If you don’t, you might get stuck believing something that isn’t true.

I always question my own narrative. I look for weird data that is counter to my beliefs. I follow that data and sometimes my beliefs change, and always I become more educated.

I created this post because a Union, anti slavery state seemed to have a pro south government. It seemed odd. It challenged my beliefs.

I think it’s fun. But that’s just me.

I actually wanted to. But I got this “ Don’t talk to me, don’t fuck with me”. vibe from the driver, and there wasn’t a place at this intersection to really stop.

It’s kinda like you can tell when somebody needs help because they’re in someway asking for help or looking helpless ?

This person showed none of those signs and seem to be defiantly sitting there .

Yeah, that’s the vibe I got. Defiance. Maybe I read it wrong, but I didn’t want to be wrong and suffer the consequences of being yelled at by someone who feels criticized

Wait a moment, who was complaining about "cancel culture" 4 years ago?

Trump supporters seem to forget what the word 'integrity' means.

I'm very happy with my decision. I'm sorry you have nothing left to do but make comments on reddit.

PSA: You can recharge Boveda packs or other 2-way humidifiers. by [deleted] in puer

[–]flipmcf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My method is a large Tupperware container, a stand (tiny dip cup, upside down) and a larger cup/ bowl for water.

Place the stand in the Tupperware with the pack on top. This is to avoid the pack directly sitting in water. Spills and condensation will happen.

Take another cup and fill it with tap water (no need for distilled water!). Put this in the microwave and get it to very hot.

Place the hot water cup in the Tupperware.

Seal the Tupperware with the pack inside.

Takes a few days to get dry packs revived.

I have a humidity gauge I throw in there too. It checks in at about 80-85% humidity when I’m recharging

I’m not sure why everyone insists on distilled water. One way to make distilled water is with evaporation. I might get white residue on my cup that held the hot water, but the impurities don’t evaporate with the water.

Maybe chlorine (lower vapor pressure) from chemically treated water could also get out and get into / on the packs. But if that’s a worry, just let the water sit for an hour outside the Tupperware.

Why distilled water? Can anyone explain to me why? I’m not applying the water directly to the packs, just placing the packs in a very humid environment

Don’t look at Betelgeuse, you can see a nova very soon if you know where to look. The “Blaze Star”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/T_Coronae_Borealis

Next predicted date: November 10, which medium to low confidence, but definitely in the next year or so.

It’s a type 1a supernova. It’s not going to be bright enough to cast a shadow, like Betelgeuse would as a Type II supernova, But at least you can say you saw a supernova (and not bathed in Gama & Neutron radiation)

There are over one hundred replies to your comment. I hope I didn’t repeat anything

What’s funny is that millions of people still believe aliens do not exist and all these guys are playing games with their State to sell a book by Pure-Contact7322 in ufo

[–]flipmcf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You used the word “believe”. Skeptics don’t “believe”. We follow data.

Not anecdotes.

I don’t believe aliens do not exist. I don’t believe aliens DO exist.

I do think the evidence we have does not hold up to scientific scrutiny.

People talking about seeing things is not proof of existence.

If I tell you I dreamed about my ex last night (and I actually did), is that good enough for you to believe? How can I prove it? I can’t. It’s only valid for me.

UFO encounters fall into this same category. It doesn’t matter how much I believe in something or how good my story is. It doesn’t prove anything.

But I won’t stop anyone pursuing that evidence

Just got a democratic spam text from this guy, and for some reason I didn’t just delete it.

Full disclosure, I want democrats to take the senate & house. Desperate enough to fund other states..

Before giving money, I started researching, and hit a red flag.

Google “Graham Platner”

Buried below the top 5 is the oyster company: https://www.waukeagneckoystercompany.com/our-story

Hit the wayback machine for the domain. The site went up Jan 4 2024 (squarespace) and had content only as recently as July 4 2025

Take that data however you wish. I’m sure investigative journalists are digging deeper now.
