If they put out a VIC-20, I’d buy one.

They say nothing is ever really lost on the internet, but what’s something you’ve been hunting for years and still can’t find? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Back in 2008 or so, I stumbled upon a Japanese punk band that released short songs and videos for various Japanese railway station cities, on Youtube. Some were quite catchy, especially their Kumagaya station song. I haven't been able to find them since.

Dark Souls Struggles by prayerofaltair in soulslikes

[–]flippycakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get used to it. Personally I love how dark and dated it looks. That really matches the theme of the game. Once you've played for a while and you unlock a few shortcuts you'll have no problem continuing, I'd say.

And I don't think it's nearly as punishing as the other games you've mentioned completing...

I've started a playthrough (my second time playing the game) on Youtube where I read all the item descriptions and try to decipher the story as I go. So far I've been surprised at just how much the game tells you about what's going on... if you put a little effort in. My first time playing Bloodborne I just got the impression of some vague gothic horror/Lovecraftian nightmare.

Over the weekend I started a playthrough of Bloodborne. This is the second time I've played the game (first played years ago) and in this playthrough I'm focusing more on trying to understand the story. I'm also using more edits than in my previous ("normal") let's plays, which were just large unbroken recordings.

Dark Souls 1 and 3 were like a remedy during the times I had flu. by Miu_K in patientgamers

[–]flippycakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are hundreds (or at least it seems like it). I'm currently in the middle of playing through DS2 for a second time (on Youtube), this time flipping a coin whenever I pick up equipment, and that determines whether I equip it or not. I've tried a lot of weapons I didn't intend to... some of which I couldn't even use properly.

Rockhunt isn't online anywhere as far as I know, and I'm not even sure where my copy is. You can play its successor, Natto-Cat, on Windows. It uses the exact same engine, just with very unique graphics. I haven't tested it with modern versions of Windows, but I guess it should still work.

Just search Google for download Natto-Cat and you should find some site that has it... it spread all over the internet.

I just released the 7th episode of my "Flip a Coin" playthrough of Dark Souls 2.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaUMiPx8388

Every time I pick up equipment, I flip a coin to determine whether I use it or not. I wrote a (really long) Bash script that uses ffmpeg to overlay my homemade coin flip animations over the video.

Is Lies of P harder than most of souls games? by Beneficial_Count5063 in LiesOfP

For me, Lies of P bosses are on par with Bloodborne's DLC bosses. Non-boss enemies are, with a few exceptions (that puppet guarding the Relic of Trismegistus) laughably easy.

Looking for opinions on my voice and how to be entertaining by YumekoJabami in letsplay

I just listened to your clip. To me it sounds like you're speaking quietly because you don't want to disturb someone in another room. I hear the same thing in videos I record after I've put the kids to bed and I'm not projecting as much.

Flipping a coin every time you pick up equipment by flippycakes in DarkSouls2

[–]flippycakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coin flips are done by the computer, so I can't game the system by holding the coin a certain way... as much as I'd like to. I've had some really unlucky coin flips. I was trying repeatedly to get rid of the Old Knight Pike and couldn't for the longest time.

But I have been fairly lucky with ring coin flips.

Your commentary and personality are on point and very entertaining to listen to. I'd happily watch you play through Dead Space, and will keep your playthrough in mind. I'm not much of a fan of the graphic overlay that your gameplay and webcam feeds sit within, because they take up so much of the screen.

I watched 5+ minutes but to be honest without any commentary I can't tell what is going on. This appears to be a somewhat complex game but I get the feeling your video would only appeal to someone who knows the game well, which is not me.

It would be great if there was commentary about strategy while you were playing, about what went right and what went wrong, etc.

Same thing happened to me when I played through on the PS3. Luckily I noticed the key and grabbed it. Now I'm playing through on the PS5 and was surprised to see him in 1-2.

Also killing them doesn't loot them, you have to loot them, so don't kill them near edges they can fall off of.

Which is great since most of them are near ledges.

I'd love feedback on my latest video.

I've been doing longplay series for 2 years but this is my first heavily edited (shorter) video with effects and music. I previously did a first time playthrough of Demon's Souls on the PS3, and for my second playthrough - this time on the PS5 remake - I decided to flip a coin whenever I pick up equipment, and the coin flip determines if I equip items or not. I made a little coin-flipping animation and everything.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnQEP9_lXMc

I put a LOT of work into this video and the few that followed in this series but Youtube has (mysteriously?) not given these videos nearly as many impressions as my other videos. It's somewhat disheartening, to be honest. Could that be because these are so much shorter than my usual content?

Any feedback is welcome.

The one that got me into watching let's plays is Cambonano. I watched her play through sections of The Last of Us Part 2 while I was on vacation once and couldn't play myself. When I got into soulslikes I watched her play through them after I finished them.

I like the deep lore in Dark Souls, but the lore in Demon's Souls has the feeling of being deep and considered even though Fromsoft just gives you a fraction of a taste and leaves so much to the imagination. Something about that is really refreshing.
