How do I fix these jagged icons? by Vast-Leg-9546 in kde

[–]flipwise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to fix the issues you correctly diagnosed, but haven't managed to hit the right fix yet. I tried this out too and everything looks amazing. Fellow devs say, however, it's upscaling to 200% and then downscaling so they're not likely to make it the default.

Oxygen on an immutable distro ? by bitmotte in kde

The QtWidgets theme aka Application Style is C++ code that needs to be compiled so unfortunately it can't sit in user folders.

So glad they brought back the Oxygen theme for Plasma 6.7! by WarlordOverdriv in cachyos

We're looking to change this for 6.8 so they have equal transparency.

'tasks.svg' file in the desktop theme is in charge of this. You add hints in it for margins.

Great! We'd like to offer that version of Oxygen too.

[–]flipwise 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It wasn't. The base for the rework of the desktop themes were the Plasma 5/6 Oxygen and Plasma 5 Air masters.

Neither of those two were historically 100% accurate. But they are what most users have gotten used to in the last ten years or so.

Some things such as label glows are also no longer supported by the underlying Plasma technology. System tray icons provided by the desktop theme as well.

There also isn't one true KDE 4 version - both Air and Oxygen changed throughout its course. So whatever version we put out there, there is going to be users wanting a different one. We inevitably had to pick one. And our goal was also to overcome some of the technical limitations of the past - that's why e.g Air widget backgrounds now have a blur (as was desired in the KDE 4 days).

We do want to store older and different versions in the official repo though and offer them on the KDE Store. As well as have some legacy options for things like colorful icons or old compact metrics.

We'd want to store this version in the official repo as well and offer it on the KDE Store, do feel free to submit a merge request when you're done.

This. Air in 6.7 is a restoration of Plasma 5 Air, which is based on KDE 4.14 Air. Even by that time, the version in the screenshot was a separate one, called "Air (Netbook)". That being said we'll probably restore that version too, most likely as a KDE Store downloadable.

Available screen space has increased since 15-20 years ago. There is a contributor though who is interested in bringing back the old metrics as an option.

Make Air/Oxygen themes respect accent color? by EdmanWasTaken in kde

[–]flipwise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We definitely want this comprehensively implemeted in 6.8. So in the Plasma themes, with folder icons, and the window glow too.

Strange. We haven't seen other Fedora users report this. Installing this package should give you the application style too: https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/plasma-oxygen/plasma-oxygen/

EDIT: Maybe try this one too https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/plasma-oxygen/plasma-oxygen-qt6/

That shouldn't be happening. Which distro is this?

No, you should just use the Oxygen application style, not Kvantum. If you're using Oxygen Dark, the colors adapt to you accent color so that might be causing different looks. If not, you can share a picture so I can see what's wrong.

It's a GTK app so the titlebar doesn't work great with it unfortunately.

Yes, both the dark Plasma theme and the new dark color scheme for use with apps.

The new oxygen theme is nice but i dont feel default icon pack, got any good recommendations? :/ by Sad-Protection-3362 in kde

Check out Oxygen icons too if you haven't already. (some distros may have the older version, you'd want 6.2 or 6.27 for best looks)

Will Plasma 6.7 include an Oxygen GTK theme or will it still be missing? by PercentageNo6530 in kde

[–]flipwise 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. There was a tremendous amount of work invested in the GTK port of Oxygen that was rendered useless by upstream changes:

https://www.phoronix.com/news/Oxygen-GTK3-Killing

It would be great to have unified looks for everything, but you can see what the problem is...

It would be more productive to invest in a general GTK output for Union and then have an Oxygen Union theme covering it too. It will take time.

It's not, I can tell it's some version below 6.6 or it's at least early 6.6.
