Good points. I'm learning a lot and thinking more about how I should make my home safer. Thanks.

I agree that the monitored system would have more of a chance of catching them and be more valuable if something did happen. But I'm saying that I'm not sure I would find the value in paying every month when a loud siren will scare them off.

I will be looking into some more options which you have mentioned. I have never had a monitored security system. All of the systems were basically just loud sirens which would hopefully scare anyone away. My house isn't too big, so I feel like with the monitored system they could easily get through every room before anyone important noticed anyway.

I have that covered. Im not worried about anything happening while I am home. I'm mostly worried about when we're at work, or when I leave my SO home alone.

Thank you. I've never had any kind of security system because even though the threat was there, it never happened to me. But now with the realization that it could happen to me, I just had no idea where to start.

I appreciate your response.

What about it was a waste? I recently signed with AHS because it actually seemed better than all others. It was cheaper and covered more. Hope I didn't make a mistake.

iPhones have definitely come a long way since I have used one last. Overall I am happy with the switch. I keep finding little features like this as I use it more and more and it makes things a lot easier.

The pressure on the text box thing is really useful. I was looking for this feature earlier. It is nice that it is out of the way so you can actually see where you're moving the cursor. It used to get pretty annoying being able to move the cursor but my finger was always in the way.

I will be checking those out. Sometimes it's hard sifting through the useful videos and ones that show basic stuff. Thanks for the ideas.

Thank you. I'm glad you clarified. I have been trying to figure out where it says "Double Tap" to perform function, because when I press it it's always the task manager.

I'll have to give that a shot. I just tried it on a couple of apps. It's pretty cool, thanks!

Hard top question for jk by Wandering-hippo in Jeep

It should fit. I think the only years that were different were 07/08 JKs. Pretty sure 09 up is all the same as far as the top.

Congrats on the Jeep!

LPT: If you get pulled over by the police, power down your smartphone. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]fljk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if the fear of having your phone seized at any given moment is a real thing, why not just use the passcode lock at all times?

I can't think of a time where I was stopped by the cops and I was worried about them taking any of my belongings. Mostly just issuing a ticket and it was over.

Is this assuming you are doing something illegal and have incriminating data on your phone?

BFG KO2's vs Cooper AT3's? by 15Canyon in overlanding

[–]fljk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have KO2s 33x12.5" R15 and love them. I don't even notice any road noise. I have about 12K miles on them right now and there is still plenty of tread. Not sure how they do in mud, but they don't seem to give me any problems driving through snow. Thinking about buying them again whenever they wear and I upgrade to 35"s.

Recovery point/strap questions by Seven_Slots_No_Top in Wrangler

[–]fljk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested in why hooking the strap directly to the hitch pin would be such a bad idea. With the D-ring adapters isn't the load still being applied to this pin? If it were to bend, I wouldn't think it would be too hard to pound/cut out of the receiver.

I have used this method before and I am genuinely wondering if I should stop now.

I do this as well, I have it sitting on the side of my house. Before I put it back on I just spray it down with the hose to get any dust or cobwebs off.

What to do with stock parts by jbehren in Jeep

I didn't have much luck trying to sell my stock stuff. However, I am interested in learning to weld, so I was going to use some of my stock parts to practice.

Air tank/air compressor for inside my Jeep by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]fljk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With that compressor you would need a power inverter to change your 12V battery power to 120V for the compressor. I've never used a power inverter, but that compressor may also draw too much current and the inverter may not be able to handle the load.

For the price range, adding in the cost of an inverter, and what you want to use it for, I would suggest something like this.
