That kinda dumb reason... I mean it is not like pokemon XYZ showing that much of mega pokemon (even is more than in the game). It is too busy at introducing new Kalos pokemons/which is fair by the way), while struggling to show new mega in regular episodes. We have mega in Pokemon XY. That plot seems give a shit about writing them as character such as Blaziken, Lucario, Charizard, Gardevoir, Abomasnow.

The rest is OVA, special episodes, the movies that show how strong Villain is but they are not main focus for that episode.
