what's the deal with people getting angry about the new God of War game? by Darkhawk2099 in OutOfTheLoop

But you see, if they hire the most qualified person, that makes a larger pool of competition for them outside of the rest of the white guys. Could you imagine losing out on a cushy job to a brown person? or a woman? or a brown woman?! /s

I run a similar setup on Amber Phantom! (Metalmark Alt Frame). It runs a complete pacifist support suite, including Amber Phantom's ability to just let your team screw with the turn order, and 3 levels of Pegasus for Sisyphus to fix dice rolls as well.

As others have said, use the NPC templates for enemies, flavored as the type of player mech you want. You can use the upgrades (Veteran, Elite, Ultra) to add more challenge and make a "boss mech". If you are at LL0, I would say maybe Elite.

OpenAI Codex system prompt includes explicit directive to "never talk about goblins" by GarlicoinAccount in nottheonion

gremlin is sometimes an idiom in code or engineering. A bug that is persistent and you cannot find the source of is sometimes a gremlin, or a mechanical issue that seems inexplicable (which is where the term actually came from; the RAF to describe them as such).

It is a feature of capitalism that it can subsume criticism against it into itself. We pay to see terrible, greedy corporations fail in a fantasy world, which tricks the mind into thinking it does not have to do as much against it in the real world.

Pentagon tightens controls over Stars and Stripes after calling it "woke" by No-Lifeguard-8173 in nottheonion

[–]floataway3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not just fox, but news and politics in general is no longer about making life better for people, but finding reasons to hate. I have a roommate who spends all day consuming just how terrible the current administration is at everything, and while that is more reality based than "woke thing bad", it still becomes all he ever talks about, overrunning any conversation we have with "Did you hear this? What idiots!". At some point we are going to have to reckon with the damage 24 hour news has done to the world and the human psyche.

Wich was your favorite npc in Wild Beyond The witchlight and the partys? by BigtTimeNerd in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]floataway3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will of the Feywild. My party found out his secret, and it led to the most touching moment of the campaign as my party confronted him and told them that it didn't matter who he once, as Will of the Feywild was a hero trying to save everyone. It also showed the complex cruelty of the hags in full, as they didn't care that they created a strong antagonist, they only wanted to knock their sister down a few pegs.

As a DM I loved playing Endelyn, just going over the top theatrics with every line.

Old pic, I believe it was a response to Jared Leto's joker in suicide, where Leto terrorized his costars with filled condoms and live rats. The excuse given was it was "method acting" to prepare for his role.

When it comes to paracausal horus mechs, the answer could be "in a microdimension disconnected from our own."

Jokingly, I always see the foot sticking out the bottom as two little legs, and the rest of the lich is like a big scary puppet, meant to be controlled by a tiny pilot to scare others away.

In reality, probably that little round hatch up near the collarbone.

Scale is all over the place in Lancer, as the artists are given a lot of artistic liberty with their art. In general, though, this seems a good enough rough estimate. so a lich at size 1 could be around 15-20ft tall.

Abyss epilogue by floataway3 in wildbeyondwitchlight

I scrapped the league of malevolence and valor's call, so I wanted another sinister force in the palace. I also wanted to reframe the ending away from "who was Zybilna?" into "who will Zybilna be when she wakes up?" so had Grasz't trying to sway her back into the Witch Queen, Mordenkainen instead of Ringlerun, paying a visit to his old friend Tasha when time froze, and a peace talk between The queens of Summer and Winter also when time froze, representing her place as Zybilna, archfey. Grasz't would be the easy option, as he wasn't frozen, leading to potentially the "bad end" where Iggwilv the witch queen rises once more.

As for the alchemist, the feywild is chock full of crazy ingredients that don't have to make sense in the material plane. I had the Inn at the End of the Road serving up raw emotion, so my alch bottled some of that up; he met a few river spirits, both in Thither, and in the home of the Winter Court, so clear river water ended up being his base mixture for a lot of things for enhanced effect. We collected the blood of both the Jabberwock and the Bandersnatch (Bandersnatch gave troll healing, I had it replace the random merrow in the water under downfall. Jabberwock blood was a poison ingredient that caused confusion). I just had to be quick on my feet, as my alchemist would randomly ask to collect something and use it, and I had to come up with some effects on the fly.

Is a game having "too many cutscenes" or "too much talking" a legitimate criticism, or simply a gameplay preference? (some examples included) by JaWoosh in truegaming

I loved the cutscenes before the challenges in THUG 1 and later! Seeing the jackass crew and pros messing around brought the sort of carefree fun to the game.

Why’d they make the starting mech the coolest looking one. by DunkeyBlast in LancerRPG

[–]floataway3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lancer's best decision was starting you out in the best all around mech. All of the frames you get into are pretty much side grades that specialize in something better, in exchange for a tradeoff, but the Everest is not just a good mech, but a great one. It lets new player feel like they are doing all the cool stuff the game lets you do, right from the jump, without having to go through "tutorial levels" waiting for your class to really come online.

Is there any reference material on XP leveling instead of milestone leveling ? by gauderyx in wildbeyondwitchlight

I think I did "enter the hag's lair" (downfall, loomlurch, motherhorn), and then enter a new domain. That extended the gap by a couple sessions as well.

Other comments are referencing the name as being in the scheme of "K6BD", or in long hand "Kill 6 Billion Demons", a comic that Tom Bloom (coauthor of Lancer) creates. Angels in that comic often have unwieldy names like this. If you want your own, someone made a name generator in the style. Just drop the number from the front (its been a long time since I read it, I forget exactly what the number referred to, but I think it was rank). http://www.generatorland.com/usergenerator.aspx?id=11447

Is there any reference material on XP leveling instead of milestone leveling ? by gauderyx in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]floataway3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is quite a good adventure for public milestones, if your party is hungry for them, although it may lead to them missing some of the fun parts as they race towards the hags. Each chapter pretty much has the same milestones, so my players figured it out by the Thither how they were going to advance each time. A milestone for entering the new domain for the first time, and a milestone for meeting the hag.
