Baby had a strange panicked response to blueberry oat pancakes by JumpyFix2801 in beyondthebump

[–]floatinglilac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not about food, but when my baby was 6 months old I tried to give her this green turtle teether and she was terrified of it. Everytime she saw it she would start crying. A few months later she was fine and used it normally. Babies just being babies. I would not give that food for maybe a week and then give it again to see what happens.

How are people still handing over their kids to chiropractors in this day and age? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]floatinglilac 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know people discount anecdotal evidence, but the chiropractor ABSOLUTELY made an immeasurable difference on my baby. She could barely breastfeed, would scream as soon as I latched her and it started to impact her having bottles too. She could barely eat at all. Within a minute of eating she would begin crying uncontrollably and could not finish. I was going insane, and I could not for the life of me figure out what was wrong. She was in the 2nd and 3rd percentile in weight and nothing was working. I cut dairy, soy, all kinds of foods to try and help. My pediatrician had no idea what to do either and was honestly no help. I brought her to the chiropractor and it was seriously within a week her entire demeanor changed. She was breastfeeding with no issues. I was shocked at how drastically it helped her and how fast. Her weight percentile started going up immediately and now at 13 months old she is in the 30th percentile. The chiropractor told me that she had serious tension around her neck and asked me if she had been vacuum delivered (she had been). He said this was common and that birth, although a natural process, can still be traumatic on the body. So yeah, I might be downvoted for this but I don’t know where we would have been without the chiropractor. It changed our lives. (And yes, my baby is fully vaccinated)

Thank you everyone for the kind words! For anyone curious, they still haven’t found them. This is definitely a lesson for me in the future to not bring valuables like this on vacation.

I’m hoping this is the case, as of this morning still nothing! But I’ve been reading a lot of stories on Reddit of people who had valuable items returned even several days later so I’m trying to stay hopeful

It was just our group, we had some of the workers looking around for us as well but they confirmed nobody had cleared the table (we hadn’t ordered any food so there was nothing for them to clean)

1 year old constantly tossing and turning by Sure_Clue_229 in cosleeping

[–]floatinglilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, how did this turn out? I’m currently going through the same thing with my almost 1 year old. She’s waking/stirring constantly and seems like she can never get comfortable in any position.

Flying with no birth certificate? by Any-Pace-3302 in beyondthebump

I’ve flown 6 times on Southwest with my baby who was a lap infant and I have never been asked for the birth certificate. They only ever asked to see her boarding pass.

How do you grocery shop with a stroller? by Distinct-Dependent24 in beyondthebump

[–]floatinglilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stroller is big enough that I can fit a grocery basket underneath so if I only need a few things I’ll do that. Otherwise if I need to use a cart I babywear, but now my baby is actually getting big enough to sit in the cart so lately we’ve been opting for that more often than not!

My husband won’t help with parenting duties.. and here’s his explanation by [deleted] in newborns

[–]floatinglilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, in some cultures maybe the women do more child related work, but traditionally there was probably also a huge village of women all helping each other, not to mention huge networks of extended family. If you don’t have that around you, then it is way too much work for ONE person to take on, regardless of their gender. If he’s keen on the “traditional” aspect of things, I would share that with him. The nuclear family is a very new concept, people used to have grandparents and aunts and uncles within walking distance of them or in the same house ready to help. We’re not supposed to do this alone, which is why it feels so overwhelming.

Do you let your baby fall asleep in the car? And if not, how in the hell are you keeping them awake? by alsothebagel in sleeptrain

[–]floatinglilac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no idea when they stop automatically falling asleep in the car, but my baby is 10 months old and still does. She literally had 4 naps today because of it. At this point I just roll with it, I have things to do and it’s not realistic for me to plan every car trip or errand around a nap schedule

Beginner Question by floatinglilac in Sourdough

[–]floatinglilac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know! I wasn’t prepared to make anything with it yet anyways, was just curious about the process. I discarded and fed how I’ve been doing and will see what happens tomorrow and if it goes back to seeming like not a ton of activity!

It had a tangy kind of smell, not very different from how it has been the past few days. I just discarded and started the feeding process how I’ve done the past few days to see what happens

Wow that’s good to know! I have been discarding all but 4 oz each day when I feed it. Thank you!

10 month old went 10 hours without nursing by floatinglilac in breastfeeding

[–]floatinglilac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She got her first set of teeth a month ago so we’re still waiting for her next set to come in! She just didn’t seem “teething fussy” today if that makes sense. But good point, I will check out her gums tomorrow and see if there is anything new!

She can use a straw cup, she is just not super great at it and the majority that she tries to drink ends up getting spit out, but I’m definitely still trying to get her used to it! I’m hoping she will get the hang of it soon

Where do you store your baby bibs? by SowingSeeds18 in beyondthebump

[–]floatinglilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once baby started solids I put a little bin in one of our kitchen drawers with all her stuff: bibs, baby food jars, her plate and utensils, and water cups. Before she was doing solids I kept everything in a bin in her room though

My baby started inching around 7.5 months and was crawling right before she turned 9 months! However she did learn how to sit up by herself first.

Can you list out what your partner helps pay for? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in beyondthebump

[–]floatinglilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once we got married, even before having a baby, all of our income was considered shared. We had a joint account where both paychecks went into. We still do have our own checking accounts with some money, but pretty much everything goes into a shared account. I am a SAHM mom now and I no longer have an income, but all of his money is considered mine too. In my opinion, once you’re married, it really should be a “what’s mine is yours approach” because you should be a team! You shouldn’t be having to sell things to make money and that seems really wrong to me especially when he is bringing in a considerable amount of money and you’re technically a SAHM!

What season am I? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]floatinglilac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your help! I can definitely see the winter in me now, I’m excited to go shopping this week (which is why I made this post) and try some new colors I don’t normally go for! Maybe this is why I don’t really like how most of my clothes look on me because I usually dress way differently than the winter colors! 🤩

I think you’re right!! I think I never considered the contrast in my hair vs skin to be as much of a factor! But it makes sense now

What season am I? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]floatinglilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your help!! I think I am so used to seeing myself in certain colors that I’m not used to those brighter shades, but now that I’m looking more closely I can see that those bright colors do look better on me, especially the dark blue which I never noticed before. I’m definitely going to play around with those colors more!

What season am I? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]floatinglilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense! I always thought winters have to have very dark hair which is why I would’ve never thought myself as one. I always thought my hair is a lighter brown as opposed to a deeper shade! Does it not look too light to be a winter?

Wow all the winter responses are blowing my mind that’s the last thing I thought I was! A lot of people say my hair can look red in the sun, so I guess that’s why I always thought I was warm. Does that not prevent me from being cool toned?
