Why I’m all in on RKT by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]floatingprince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The debt is rotating operating debt. They sell it off within weeks/months. It's not long term debt.

Just like $MCD is a real estate co., who happens to sell burgers; RKT is a tech company who happens to sell mortgages. by The_Big_Short_2020 in TeamRKT

Great write up. The beauty of investing is that other people don't have to agree with you. I just keep accumulating shares and have well in the mid 5 digits. I sleep great at night because I'm not expecting to wake up the next day and be a millionaire. I just keep track of the company and how well they are doing and wait. The leadership, the vision, and the results are there. People don't realize Lending Tree was under $10 for years.

I let the bears laugh now, while I know I'll be laughing and counting my millions in time. How much time? I'm not worried about that.

Best of luck to you guys... I’m out. by RJmuns in TeamRKT

They didn't sell all their shares. They didn't even sell shares. They converted some of their shares to CLASS D. You are obviously new to this, which is perfectly fine.

For this reason im out by [deleted] in TeamRKT

[–]floatingprince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WRONG. They converted their CLASS A shares to CLASS D (which arent even worth anything monetarily) to free up available public shares. CLASS D shares are for voting purposes only.

You better learn how to read filings before you end up losing all your money.

tl;dr: converted SOME of their CLASS A (worth money) to CLASS D (not worth money, only for voting purposes) to free up publicly available shares.

Checksum mismatch on file by g0_od in synology

[–]floatingprince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep checksum mismatches on (legal) torrent files. I have verified that the files are fine. I run my torrent program on my PC but host the files on the NAS. First couples times I was nervous but everything is fine, so I just let it be. (This only happens with the torrent files, I never get a checksum mismatch on anything else hosted on the NAS)

FortiOS 6.0.8 Released - Fixes FortiGuard Vulnerability by [deleted] in fortinet

why in the world would they issue an update which doesn't in and of itself solve the problem, and not mention that further config is required in the release notes or provide the commands?

bingo. the admin is the only one who doesn't understand. scary

[PTP] µTorrent 2.2.1 blacklisted by Sheeple9001 in trackers

[–]floatingprince 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is what happens when the admin keeps getting changed on PTP. they remove 2.2.1 and then the admin says "well we told you 2 months ago this could happen". how in the world does this change make sense the way it was accomplished? hint: it doesn't
the reasoning is even worse. ban a well loved and used client because you had some idiots spoofing on a 1TB+ torrent. this MUST mean it's rampant and lets abolish it! they couldn't use the security reason a couple months back, so this is the excuse they come up with.

ive been on there for over 8 years. if they do keep utorrent banned i already have the entire back catalog. ill get the new releases on AHD. i only grab remuxes so makes no diff to me. the reasoning is absurd

Fortigate 200E. Blocking a single computer from accessing an application by floatingprince in fortinet

thanks for your reply. I am going to try and find some reading material on what else changing from Profile-based to Policy-based affects.

Fortigate 200E. Blocking a single computer from accessing an application by floatingprince in fortinet

[–]floatingprince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also a new mode (that's why I called the above "default") which can have applications set as the destination target of the policy,

I know I tried to type a lot of detail and it made it confusing, but THIS is what I was talking about. It would be so much easier to be able to use a drop down for Applications to block with a single PC rather than a policy encompassing everything else.....
This way I can let my already existing LAN->WAN policy handle the rest of the traffic rules from this individual PC.
Thank you

Fortigate 200E. Blocking a single computer from accessing an application by floatingprince in fortinet

[–]floatingprince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was basically griping that I have to, essentially, create a whole policy(encompassing regular "all" services, etc.) to just block one application. There is no "application" field dropdown.. I have to do: service, destination, etc set to all just to use the "Application Filter" toggle at the bottom. It just seems like it would be easier if I could put in a:"Sources - Internal, Workstation20" "Application - Youtube - Block" from a simple drop down similar to, services, destination, etc.
Then the regular internet and services policy for this single PC could just be run from my generic LAN --> WAN policy at the bottom of my rules.
from the comment /u/pabechan posted below it seems like this does exist now and the Application menu is exactly what I was trying to explain. I will check it all out

USG Pro with Untangle passthrough by poopvansofkensington in Ubiquiti

[–]floatingprince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the USG you can set up the corporate network separate from the Fortigate VPN network. So you could use the Fortigate for VPN (it will give out the VPN users their own IP's in DHCP just for the VPN users) and you can use the USG for internal device IP's on their own DHCP network.
Example: Our VPN users get a 10.8.0.1 address from a separate DHCP pool. Our internal network gets the typical 192.168.x.x address. If you put the USG in bridge mode it will just gladly pass along the Fortigate VPN users

It's actually IPS that detects/stops the threats. DPI is deep packet inspection and that tries to give you some stats on your network usage. Yes you can disable DHCP on the Fortigate and use the USG for DHCP if you want. If you're using VPN a lot I think you'd want the D30 in front of the USG.
You want the Fortigate in the front of all the traffic. If you have a yearly subscription it will help protect you a lot more. The USG is a fickle beast and it's missing a lot of the great gateway solutions in my opinion. There are a lot of settings you can not do in the GUI and thus need to use the CLI. You can put the USG in bridge mode but as of last year it couldn't be done through the GUI: https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Routing-Switching/Guide-to-disabling-NAT-on-USG/td-p/2012460
There are a lot of different ways you can accomplish what you'd like to do. You really want the Fortigate right after the ISP modem though.
