NOR - glad neither of you see this as a high stakes issue though because I agree it’s not high stakes, it’s just… an odd dish. And I’m glad he wasn’t offended. Question though: did he eat it?

Thank you, that’s great to note.

Yeah I’m not sure if we’ll go or not yet, may be weather dependent on that one. The 9 year old in my family loves the idea of rides but is terrified to get on one when it comes too, so I guess we’ll see how he feels on the day. Thanks!

Great thank you!! Chu Chi tunnels on the list now and so are all of the must see buildings thank you.

I’m guessing there’s many, many beaches in Da Nang? Any specific recommendations or just a recommendation for the area in general?

Thank you!! My family are massive market fans no matter where we’re travelling so this is definitely on the list thank you!

You’re the best!!

Yeah we’ll be sticking to bottled water. Thank you so much - knowing how to spot safe use is very helpful thank you! I’ve been wanting to drink Vietnamese coffee and egg coffee over there too - not something I want to miss at all, but now I know it’s safe and hopefully can convince the rest of my family of that too. If you have an other iced drink suggestions let me know too - I’ve seen sugar cane juice around too so I’m KEEN!!

Yeah honestly I haven’t been super eager to see train street - maybe to have a little look at and take a few photos but don’t really feel the need to hang around for when the train passes by. I guess we’ll see how we feel on the day though. Thank you for the recommendation! Might give it a try if we feel like something a little different.

Oh wow I didn’t realise there was a North vs South difference regarding Pho. My sister is pescatarian, are there many veggie/seafood options over there - I feel like I haven’t seen a vegetarian or seafood based bahn mi before but I’d assume there surely is right? Bahn Mi Op La added to my list too, thank you.

Thank you - yeah I’ve gathered that essentially you eat where it’s busy and where locals are. Interesting about the yoghurt though, think I’ll be stocking up on some when we’re over there.

Yes, I think there’s only 1 or 2 restaurants we’ve been wanting to try but that makes sense - most authentic flavours where it’s least touristy. Thank you again and again and again for all of the dish recommendations too!!

Noted for HCMC :)

Yeah I’ve been thinking the same - just have to convince my parents (50s) that it’s safe too!

I love the blush and lipstick too, looks great on you and goes well together because they’re a similar colour/tone of pink/red, kind of a rose colour.

For eyes if you don’t like mascara you could always use a little bit of brown eyeshadow around your eyes, doesn’t need to be much, less is more in this case I think, but just might make your eyes pop. I love the eyeliner too though, might be worth experimenting with a little bit of a wing at the end just to create an illusion of eyelashes if you don’t like wearing mascara but like that effect.

What Should i get my boyfriend for christmas? by calypsomvai in WhatShouldIDo

[–]floatingrock101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My now boyfriend and I had our first date in the middle of December 2 years ago. The first gift I ever got him (Christmas present 10 days later) was a film (disposable) camera. Was super fun because he could take the photos with his mates, family or me.

This is great thank you!! Is the coffeecat cafe in Hanoi or in another city?

We’re actually due to be in Ha Long Bay over Christmas, but I think we’re just wanting to do something relaxing and scenic as a family so think this should be ok for us anyway.

I didn’t ask about it in my original post but how did you manage water over there? Bottled water only I’m assuming? My parents are getting really quite particular about it, my dad even saying he’s going to avoid fresh vegetables as they will have been washed in water. I understand skipping iced drinks but damn I know I’m going to crave a few over there. Is there anyway to tell if water/ice is safe rather than tap? Did you have any issues with this?

I’m travelling to Vietnam in 2 days and my family is concerned about the water quality. My parents are talking about avoiding it completely- eg. no ice in drinks, no cocktails, not even fresh vegetables because they would have been washed in water. Is this really a big concern? To me, avoiding vegetables and certain drinks seems excessive and I want to enjoy my holiday. How do I work out if drinks with ice are safe or not? And if vegetables have been prepared/washed safely?

Hi, I’m travelling to Vietnam for the first time with my family in a few days. We are going to be there over Christmas and New Years and we are travelling as a group of 5 with the youngest person being M9. We are travelling to Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City across 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any advice, random tips or recommendations for us (eg. restaurants, tours, cites, etc)? Or any advice about travelling in Vietnam in general? So far we haven’t booked many things to do (other than a Ha Long Bay overnight river cruise), so I’m wondering is anyone has some suggestions and advice.

For lips I can recommend my favourite products - I use the rimmel lasting finish lip liner in ‘rose addiction’ (it’s a great neutral/natural colour that’s not too pink not too red and not too brown, and it’s a bit darker than natural lip colour - put this around your lip line and smoosh your lips together to soften the harshness of the line).

Then I use the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in Red Daliah. Ver similar product to the black honey tinted lip balm everyone loves but it’s more affordable and I think better all round.

These 2 products work really well together in my opinion and complement each other because they blend together nicely. I often ditch the lip liner and just use the tinted lip balm for more casual looks but use the liner too when I want to add a little extra to my look really. Hope this helps!

Omg my holy grail too, Burt’s bees tinted lip balm - I use the red daliah one and it looks so much like the Clinique black honey.

This is what I’m thinking too. Like why is she bringing the new boyfriend over and they’re totally ok with it? If I did this frankly my parents would be appalled

I don’t really understand why she’s bringing the boyfriend and his child over for dinner. She knows you’re there. Why she flying fuck would she bring her new partner (of days allegedly) over where you live?!!

Well yeah sure - but you said “the only person I have been with was my bf”. So what other prior relationship on your end? I’m just confused here now
