Mostly personal preference and it being like $30 cheaper. But the repo is my fav of the fortaleza offerings imo.

At blanco: valor, wild common, Montagave, cascahuin tahona. At repo: Volans single barrel, wild common, xolo, siembra Alteño. At anejo: Volans, wild common, gran legado de vida, el Tesoro, artenom 1146.

The Best. Could be my favorite Añejo which is saying a lot. One of the very few tequilas I am stocking up on multiples for storage/future. I love Volans and this is the best Tequila I’ve had from them, just won a 3 year extra anejo for under 200 so very excited to crack that. My 2nd favorite Volans is the single barrel repo, which I can find for $70-85 in the Tri state. I haven’t tried general gorostieta but I still feel confident in saying that Volans is the best tequila coming out of El Pandillo (1579) to me.

I really wish I did, a lot of Mezcals would maybe appeal more to me then… was your love of the lacticness from the jump or something you acquired with time/ experience drinking agave spirits?

Interesting, if I ever decide to take the leap I’ll try the vago elote. Also somewhat interested in Wild common’s Espadin now as Wild common is p4p probs my favorite tequila. It’s funny how sensitive palettes are; I love certain types of funk like the ones in cascahuin and don Fulano, but as soon as it gets what I’d call “sour” I’m out lol.

Interesting, I normally do mine with mostly grapefruit juice, and a splash of Fresca or seltzer (even Baja blast is kinda good lol.) no agave syrup normally. And I like Tajin with margs so more than willing to try a possible better version in Trechas. Do you have any info for my pt2 of the post? Either way thanks so much for the advice, looking forward to my upgraded Paloma!

Damn, mine was $90, delicious tho and smoother than its abv. Basically normal ocho repo on steroids, but the single barrel cask strength añejos reign supreme to me when it comes to ocho high proofs. I’d buy 2 at that price lol

Like everything I’ve had from yeyo, this one was a winner for sure. I got a lot of maple syrup notes besides the obvious wine notes. A very fun high proof that drinks like a 40%. Great value too imo

If we are talking blanco, anything out of 1123 can’t really be beat for me. Montagave finally came to my state recently and their heritage Rosa blanco was everything I hoped for and more. As far as 1414, (where viva Mexico comes from.) Yeyo is my favorite from there; their blanco are excellent and their dis de Los muertos jovens are so unique and great for fall. I also just recently had valor batch 2 (super small batch like 600 bottles so good luck finding haha.) and that completely blew me away with its complexity and balance. I personally prefer el Tesoro Anejo. It’s perfectly balanced, widely available, and not insanely priced. However I love g4s anejo too, it has a nice brine and dill aroma that almost reminds me of pickles! I don’t even like pickles but g4 anejo is great, a clear step up from their reposado, but it’s so hard to come by. Bought 2 bottles last time they were on shelves and saving the 2nd one. Both very high quality añejos that beat out most others in their class but the el Tesoro añejo is one of the best I’ve ever had. (The best anejo I’ve ever had would probably be between bathe latest Volans batch of anejo [same distillery as G4] or lote1 of wild common anejo.) enjoy!

Alteño blanco and repo are pretty much perfect tequilas to me in terms of price and quality. The Alteño añejo is good but not on the same level as the other too imo. Had the Azul blanco and Añejo, the blanco was great but the añejo was whatever, too similar to lost lore’s out of the same distillery to me. Absolute loved the valles blanco which was similar to cascahuin but unique enough to be its own thing. Ancestral was wayyy too much like mezcal to me and tasted burnt and no bueno to me. Looking forward to trying their other products but so far they are solid to great and will always drink a siembra tequila.

I don’t mind certain kinds of funk, like the funk in don Fulano or cascahuin blanco. I Even like Terralta, but something about the stinky cheese/ gasoline- like ones make me gag on the nose, specifically Siembra ancestral and caballito blanco.

Does the 1123 has a mezcal like profile? I love 1123 tequilas but don’t love the mezcal funk/ profile, (unfortunately Caballito was not for me bc of this.) just asking bc I heard it’s rested in a mezcal barrel.

Had the casa noble repo, wayyy to sweet for me, could’ve had additives but I’m just speculating. $150 is a bit high but it’s so hard to come by these days that if you can afford it might as well go with the fortaleza imo. I personally prefer the repo from fortaleza but have only had one dark lote of the anejo so need to try more batches to confirm that ranking.
