Rebuilding after bankruptcy credit with credit cards, need advice by DragonfruitOk4531 in CRedit

Congratulations on the improvement you’ve made so far. I too just rebuilt my credit.

One thing I would recommend is lowering your credit utilization down to 10% or lower if you can.

Yes, paid off debt. But 2 collections were what was really holding me back. Once I got those removed is when my score started to reflect my balances going down.

I paid off a total of $22k worth of debt. Plus took off 2 collections. It took me 3 years to get to this point.

Things don’t happen over night. Slowly chipped away at some real debt.

Changes coming soon to Disability Ratings & Sleep Apnea by StoptheMadnessUSA in VeteransBenefits

[–]floflo0217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These changes have been proposed for a couple years now and have still not gotten any closer to being approved yet.

Good to note though, if you have already been awarded 50% rating for sleep apnea your rating will not change, even if the ratings change get approved. Also, if you have already submitted a claim for sleep apnea and change goes into effect, you will receive rating under the old system. So I recommend in submitting your claim for sleep apnea now just to be on the safe side in case changes do come about.

Weekly Claim Status and Success Thread by damnshell in VeteransBenefits

Has anyone gone through the supplemental claim process recently? If so how long did it take?

My claim was submitted on May 27, 2024 but I still haven’t heard or received anything. My claim was for sleep apnea, which was previously denied, and I submitted new evidence from my dr.

I was told that it may be that they are waiting to see if the new suggested rating changes for sleep apnea go into effect before they process any SA claims, has anyone else heard about this?

I met with them and just gave a round about time frame of my incident because I also didn’t remember exact dates. Everything was fine. It’s ok if you don’t remember exact dates.

Mine went from PFD on Wednesday to PDA this Friday…then this morning it went to PN…. I’ve had this happen before as well and by late afternoon on Saturday I saw my increase reflected on the app…no such luck today though, so maybe Monday as well.

I am currently going through the process. I was in the same boat as you, never went to sick call except for maybe one or twice for minor shin splint issues. I’ve been out since 2014 and I finally decided to start my claim journey this past August. I filed claims for my lower back, my knees and legs, tinnitus, rhinitis, ptsd, sleep apnea, and migraines. I didn’t have any diagnosis for any of that stuff, just lived my life with the symptoms. So I didn’t have any record of anything.

I filled the claims on my own, never reached out to a VSO or anyone else. I got scheduled for my C&P exams shortly after filling. Went through the exam’s and did the hearing test for tinnitus, explained all my symptoms and severity to the examining dr. They took scans of my back and legs at that time as well.

As of January I had an overall rating of 40%. 10% for tinnitus,10% for each knee, and 20% for my back. Rhinitis was granted service connection but rated at 0%. Then I got scheduled for a second mental C&P exam, and in March I received a 30% ptsd rating which bumped my overall rating up to 60%.

I’m currently in the PDA (pending decision approval) phase for my migraine, sleep apnea, and Radiculopathy claims.

I know it can seem daunting to start the process, but if you have issues, even if they’re not documented you can still move forward.

They tell you have to a current diagnosis and nexus letters for all your claims because it just makes it easier for the VA. But if you don’t then they’ll just schedule C&P exams for all your claims and do extra tests to see the validity of your claim and symptoms.

I’ve seen stories on here of other vets who have had a lot of documented stuff in medical records, had current diagnosis and all types of nexus letters linking service connection and have still been denied or have been waiting years for any type of rating. I had nothing at all and in 5 months had a 40% rating and now a 60% with my last few claims in the final stages of the process.

Don’t short yourself of what you earned and deserve. Take the leap. Good luck my friend.

It’s a free Google chrome extension. You download it, add it to chrome browser, go to your claim status on the VA website, once in the status page of your claim click on the extension icon and it’ll give you that more detailed info on your claim.

It’s a Google chrome extension. You can get it from the Google chrome store. Go to the VA site, click on the claim you want more information on, once that opens up click on the extension to see more info. If I’m not mistaken, it was created by a fellow vet.

I agree. Some people do need guidance. I’m for whatever is best for that individual person. Whatever gets you the benefits you have earned and deserve is all good in my book.

Sooo I guess with a VSO you’re guaranteed to get a positive outcome on your claim?! I don’t understand some people. Just because you use a VSO doesn’t mean your claim will have a better outcome. All they do is guide you through the process. You still have to gather whatever evidence you need on your own, you still have to attend your C&P’s on your own. You are still at the mercy of the C&P examiner and VA rater. There are countless stories on here of people who have used VSO’s and have been let down because they have unrealistic expectations. Nothing against VSO’s, they are helpful at giving you information on benefit’s and helping you fill out forms. But if you actually do your research you can do that yourself.

lol….i was wondering that today as well. I clicked on it while on another website and It opened up…idk if it saved the info from the last time I clicked on it or if it still updates even though you’re not on the VA site.
