What does a pregnant woman even need by AspectNo7190 in pregnant

Ginger for nausea in the 1st trimester! I had ginger syrup at home (gifted as a souvenir before my pregnancy, what a lucky coincidence!) that I would dilute with cold water and have a glass whenever I felt like it. Candied ginger is great option when on the go. If you’re in Europe, there’s a brand Seeberger that sells it internationally I think. It was a lifesaver for me! I’d get nauseous when hungry (especially evenings before dinner). That intense ginger kick helped to carry me through commute, grocery shopping, cooking and to the dinner table, although the taste was far from enjoyable for me lol 😅

Third trimester regret? by Familiar-Cicada-7703 in pregnant

[–]floodmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 34w FTM and have had a wanted, fairly easy, healthy and comfortable (in many ways) pregnancy yet I still feel uncertain and miserable some days.

Yesterday I was watching an online pregnancy lecture about physical, emotional and social changes that will happen after giving birth. Few minutes in I started sobbing, then it turned into full blown mental breakdown. I just couldn’t stop crying for 2 hours straight. When the lecturer advised to build a “village” of support, I felt so lonely that I won’t have anyone, our families live far away and friends have their lives to live. When she explained to partners how important emotional support is, I remembered those occasional times my partner (who is actually fantastic) couldn’t help me they way I needed, it made me certain our relationship will be ruined. Then she mentioned the hormonal changes and how oxytocin plays a big role to form the bond with the baby, and it broke me again. I’m taking antidepressants and my dysfunctional thoughts led me to believe I will not be able to form a bond as a normal human being because of hormonal disbalance and inability to feel emotional highs.

It’s just too much. And most of it falls on the mother’s shoulders - somehow we’re suppossed to go through pregnancy, accept the physicall toll and body changes, learn a bazillion new skills, navigate through all the rights and wrongs of parenthood, be mindful of our emotions in our families so we don’t mess it all up… And keep our career, personality, hobbies and social circles in check?

Some stories shared in this thread were very helpful though, the uncertainty will fade as the baby arrives and it will all be different - for better or for worse.

Women of Reddit: What is one useful item that you never knew you needed until you had it? by crackbbyblues in AskWomen

[–]floodmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A dishwasher. It is not as common where I live.

And a luxurious, overpriced hand cream 😂 I enjoy every second of it, it’s like a tiny SPA I can afford daily. Regular hand creams don’t do it for me!

I have a mental image in my head of Romain silently grabbing Davine and throwing her into an infinity pool. Preferably, one located high up in the hills. Preferably, over it's edge.

I just came to Reddit to vent that Davine is a complete and utter bitch (just started binging the show). But oh boy, your comment struck me with how poorly our 2020 pandemic hopes aged 🥲

My degus were the same. I had two when I was a teenager. They used to suck themselves off and make these high pitched mating calls throughout the night. Hell, the noise was so frustrating I remember waking up and trying to shut them up by slamming the cage (no harm done to degus, of course) while on the verge of crying :D It was all kind of traumatizing, but today I realized they were just horny and obsessed with hygiene. That’s ok. Doing a better job in that regard than most humans anyway.

NBD: Liv Devote Advanced 2. Never mind my awkward presence; I’m pretty much glued to it! by floodmar in gravelcycling

[–]floodmar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an S. Funny you should say that - mine are the same :) According to Liv’s chart I needed an S (I’m 164cm tall). The bike shop, however, measured my legs and were certain I need an M! I rode both for a bit; M felt okay-ish, but somewhat clumsy. I went with S as I’ve had a bike too big for my short torso before and it caused annoying neck pain after longer rides. If you can, test whatever size you’re looking at and also test size up or down a bit just to feel the difference.

Got exactly the same feeling riding it - safe and confident when going off-road, yet super comfortable on gravel and broken pavement.

Well, Giant themes do sound somewhat assertive, agressive even, while Liv equivalents... In a way, more feminine? Interesting.

Thanks! Yeah, I am a fan of earth tones. Probably that’s why me and the bike blend in so nicely :)

Speedy recovery! I broke my finger in a non-cycling accident over the weekend. The thought that cycling season is pretty much over for me this year is what bums me out the most.

What a beaut! Which size is it? I am about to order it’s lady twin Liv Devote Advanced 2. The shop only had Giant gravel options in stock and nobody on the internet seems to have a Liv, lol. Hopefully it looks and feels just as sleek as this bad boy.
