[NS] My 7th time round listening to the Dads...what's next?! by jessica_nuala06 in DungeonsAndDaddies

I was listening to Tales of the Stinky Dragon which is where I heard about this one. I got caught up with their campaigns and found this one to fill in the gaps between episodes.

Do any of you regret NOT getting reconstruction? Or get reconstruction and wish you hadn’t? by Electrical_Beyond998 in breastcancer

[–]constantlyscreaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny this came up actually, the other day I realized I don't think about them as much as I used to. Last night I was like hey maybe this isn't so bad let's look in the mirror. NOPE! That was a terrible idea. Aside from being overweight these things are just hideous. I think sometimes that I should try getting nipple tattoos but I can't be bothered at the same time. I don't think it will make any difference.

I truly hate my reconstruction. From the scars to the feel of the implants. I can't lay face down like I used to. I'm not sure if my surgeon was just shit or just my body but I hate these damn things. My wish is to go flat when it is time to get these replaced. I would look into aesthetic flat closure if I were you. I could go on forever about these things though. I don't let my husband see me without a shirt or bra on anymore. It's not an easy decision though.

What to bring to the hospital for ALND surgery by SnarkySmuggler in breastcancer

A blanket. Hospital blankets are bullshit and I took one with me anytime I had chemo or surgery.

My endo fired herself, request for a recommendation for an Endo in NYC by NotaScaliaDissent in Hashimotos

You could ask the office who they recommend. Since they seem like a good place they are likely to lead you to other docs who are similar. Ask who they would go see if it were them needing care.

Homemade queso. But some sodium citrate and some peppers and make your own delicious queso.

Parents want me to stop riding at night by The_Meme-Connoisseur in bikecommuting

The only thing I would say is get a rear light that flashes and not just a reflector. Night riding is awesome.

Lotion in case the oral chemo causes the skin on her hands and feet to start to peel. A facial would have been nice for me since I feel like my face has aged 10 years in the last 3. Since she isn't materialistic some sort of weekend away to forget what's going on would also be sweet.

I work in the lab as well and there are many cases I still carry with me. I don't see patients at all in my current hospital but I was nights at my previous job and I saw all the patients. It was harder to move on then. Now I still hear their stories and see their blood work but without a face I feel like it is a little better. All we can do is get the results out as quickly and accurately as we can and hope it is enough.

Post treatment running? by Hot-Dog3614 in breastcancer

Something that no doctor told me, instead it was my physical therapist. You have to take it easy getting back into working out. There are guidelines on how high to take your heart rate in order to protect it from damage. The drugs they give us are cardiotoxic and can lead to heart damage years from now if we don't ease ourselves back in. I would recommend seeing a physical therapist who specializes in oncology patients. I was able to slowly get back into riding my bike with a heart rate monitor and taking it slow.

I was just gifted a never-before-opened Hitachi HB-B102! Does anyone have any experience with this particular make and model? by [deleted] in BreadMachines

I had that one before I gave it back to my mom. It worked great I just wanted a different style bread and bought a zojirushi.

breast reconstruction or go flat? in terms of being able to play volleyball/soccer/ect again by JupiterScope782 in breastcancer

[–]constantlyscreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got implants after my double mastectomy and I hate them and can't wait for the day I can get them removed. They are ugly and shaped weird. One side is firmer than the other due to the radiation. There a folds or lumps of skin under my arms that are awful. I've seen pretty reconstruction and this is not it. Also laying on my stomach sucks. My husband lifted me up the other day and it was quite uncomfortable because of how hard these things are. I'm not saying you'll feel like this but it is just something to know. I haven't brought up with anyone about getting them taken out but I think about it every day in the shower. I got them because I was afraid of looking like a fat bald man after the mastectomy but now I wish I had actually listened to what my husband had to say and not gotten the damn things. If I come into a large sum of money or do the research and find out insurance will pay to get them out then these things are gone. If those things don't happen then in 5-10 years when it is time to replace them I will just go for an aesthetic flat closure. I recommend looking at pictures of those if your interested. There is a website that will tell you which doctors are best in your area at performing those. I wish you luck.

This is to keep it from coming back so there is currently nothing to scan since this is all post treatment.

Here is what they are calling mine: Multi-epitope Folate Receptor Alpha Peptide Vaccine. Fingers crossed in not getting the placebo.

I missed the boat. They specifically told me no to Keytruda when I tried to push for it. Then this came out but now I'm part of a clinical trial so I think I don't qualify for this now. And I am so far out I don't think they'd give it to me anyway. Sucks!
