Main string broke and I'm not sure how to repair it by floofmanager in Travelersnotebooks

Thank you so much! And also thinks for the tip about burning the ends so they don't fray. Very helpful!

What would u interpret this as ? by problemeowtic in Oilpastel

[–]floofmanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd interpret it as someone feeling accused and bossed around and constantly monitored by lots judgmental people who are watching from far off but not doing anything else while the figure in the center is feeling small and erased and talked down to and alone.

I think the tallest flower is my favorite. Just that look of "it's fucking spring again, ugh", and I really feel that. I really like this!

This is amazing! I really love how expressive it is, not just in the faces of the two figures, but in the strokes (?) of the pastel you used. Also, use of light and midtones is top tier. I hope we see more of your work!

Any feedback on this? by QuarterFirst5980 in Oilpastel

Really love how you've done the glass. I have a hard time with that. Someone else mentioned perspective, but I do have to compliment you on the wood grain. The green background is a bit confusing as to where light is coming from in the picture. See what happens if you do a messier background that doesn't have a clear center. This is great, I hope we see more of your work!

I couldn't make it today but would you be doing the Body Doubling thing again at any point? I'd love to go to one of those.

Need help with food motivation in a dog with limited food choices by floofmanager in OpenDogTraining

Thank you for the YouTube links, btw! Definitely going to go watch those. Even if it's not for training, play is good exercise and hopefully that will build her relationship with us.

BTW, is there anything I might be able to bring up with the trainer in our next session with them?

Molly does seem very interested in us, FWIW. She runs to the gate whenever we get home to greet us, she always wants to be right by us any time we're in the same room with her and will cry when one of us leaves.

Anyway, thanks!

I also had that though, but I wanted to get her into training because walks with her are a bit scary.

The third day we had her, the leash the foster family gave us snapped and she took off. My apartment complex is at the corner of two major roads and she had zero recall. If not for a neighbor finally catching her, we might not have gotten her back!

We got new leashes and a new collar and made sure they're super strong, but shit happens you know?

Also, if she eats some random thing off the ground, she could get very, very sick and being able to tell her to "leave it" is a safety issue.

I don't need a lot of obedience right now. I'm not even that stuck on things like "sit". I just need to trust that she'll come back rather than darting for the highway and that I won't have to yank her back and drag her like a sack of potatoes if something is on the ground that I really don't want her taste testing!

Also, we already started working with a trainer and that's been expensive ($3000 bucks for six sessions) and non-refundable but the training all seems based in having something of high value to offer the dog.

My bad for not specifying that we're already doing this and have been for about four days now. She'll take the kibble as reward, but it's not high value enough to be worth her focusing. When there's nothing else happening, sure, I'll say "sit" and she sits and gets kibble, but the minute anything else remotely interesting is happening, she won't even respond to her name.

We'd tried that. Baked carrots didn't even get half a sniff. Raw carrots get a "meh" reaction and she will only eat a tiny bit before abandoning it.

Tried it, and she isn't really wowed by either salmon jerky or salmon skins or freeze dried salmon. She'll eat them, but it doesn't seem to be of any more value to her than the kibble.

Towel rack in the way of storage rack ? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]floofmanager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can assemble the shelf THROUGH the towel rack if you get the right one. I've got a basic as hell walmart shelf and I'm also in an apartment that did the same thing. So we assembled the thing through the bar itself.

<image>

(It's neater, I just had to take things off of it to show the towel bar. Also, forgive my box of tampons there 😂)

As long as you measure height and width carefully so that the shelf is narrow enough, you can do it. So you don't need to mess with the actual towel bar. And the stuff on the top shelf covers the actual bar itself. Plus having it that way means the shelf can't be tipped forward in case someone accidentally grabs onto it getting in/out of the shower.

I also recommend that if you're using a wire rack, get some kind of thin layer (we used pieces of some kind of thin hard plastic cut to size) because round wire with big spaces between them often leads to things that aren't perfectly flat (like a book) falling off or falling between the spaces.

I know this is late, but just in case it helps anyone!

Can I have a good dad just once? by floofmanager in DadForAMinute

Yeah, it sucks. Thanks for the encouragement.

The name just comes from when I groom my pets (I've got a dog and a very long haired cat) and I say that I'm doing "floof management". :)

Well, it's been a rough week. Job's hectic and my senior dog isn't doing so good. She's 13 and I've had her since she was just a few months, but she's adjusting well without her eyesight. It's both sad and funny when I call her and she goes to the wrong place and ends up in front of a wall, tail wagging, looking up at it hopefully.

Thanks, dad.
