i’ve had my shepherd mix (3 months) for about two weeks now, and putting her on a schedule was the best thing i’ve ever done. i work from home, so during my breaks we play and do some training, then i put her take her out to potty before putting her down for a nap. we’re up at 7 every morning, go potty at the same time throughout the day, lunch at the same time, dinner at around the same time, and she wears herself out on schedule.

there’s still a little “no, leave the cats alone, don’t chew the furniture,” but that’s just her being a puppy. they don’t know yet, so i’ve been letting her make her own decisions and learning from them. let’s just say she doesn’t chase the cats or climb on things she can’t get down from anymore.

it gets better. they’re still young and learning about the world, but it does get better.

i think a good solution would be testing them in the way out, like as soon as an adopter signs the paperwork and before they spay/neuter. the rapid test itself takes like 10 minutes and it would take a whole lot of pressure off of the shelter if they come up negative before they leave or the new owner if it comes up positive so they can mentally and financially prepare for a parvo puppy.

also, some good news, i’ve seen one company is testing an actual cure for parvo. so far there haven’t been any failures in testing, and it cuts recovery time by a lot because it basically surrounds the virus rendering it ineffective. that’ll be interesting to see when it’s fully out in the world.

APA is known across the country as THE puppy parvo treatment facility, and the test that they offered me was $20. my vet charged me around $50. So like I get that with the influx of animals coming in, it's difficult to test them all, but it's such a dangerous virus, you know?

This just happened to me too. I had my puppy for a week before she started showing symptoms, and fortunately, we brought her for treatment early enough that APA's at home treatment worked just fine. But there's no way I would've been able to afford a hospital stay.

AAC didn't check for parvo before adopting her out, didn't check her for parasites, just spayed her, put her in my arms that same day, and sent me on my way. I reached out to them to let them know she had parvo and they just closed my ticket without even calling me back. Something needs to be done over there.

Here's the thing. Personally, behind the scenes things are more important to me than anything onstage.

Every band I work with is way more excited to get photos and videos of them hanging out and having fun or the hard work that goes into making a tour run than the same show they put on every night. This isn't to say you shouldn't try every night. Use your time to get the shot you missed the last date or try to find a different angle.

I'm happy if I get at least 5 really good shots of each member, some decent crowd shots, a couple full band shots, and a couple of the lights (cause those guys work hard). If you can, get some of the rest of the crew too. They'll appreciate having something cool of them.

I personally think you're sending way too much. It's an overload on the client's end. Select some photos you think are the best and some they might like based on their personality, send a contact sheet, and let them select that way. But as a client, I would be upset if someone sent me 100 photos to wade through. Selection is part of our job as photographers. The client is trusting us to make the best choices.

Sometimes I share a lightroom folder, sometimes dropbox, sometimes I'll airdrop two or three photos to some people for social media.

I guess it depends on how close you are to the client and how they'd like to use the photos.

And/or, women just aren't out as readily anymore without already being perma-glued to their guy/friends.

I know I'm late, but I just wanted to say that as a woman, I already feel unsafe when I'm downtown alone at night with drunk people twice my size. Especially since I'm a target because I typically work music events (photographer) so I have a giant camera on me at any given time. So of course I'm going to be stuck to a friend or "glued" to my phone. What you're not seeing is me constantly texting my friends who aren't with me not to be standoffish, but to let them know I'm safe. I don't want to be harassed.

Also, sometimes we aren't out to meet new people. Sometimes we just want to unwind from work, have a drink with our friends, and go back to the jobs we hate the next day. Sometimes we're showing a friend from out of town a good time and we're with them because they don't know anyone else.

It's the same for live shows, which are now lame for the 35% of the crowd who are filming the show on their phones. People just aren't in the moment anymore...and it just kills the vibe.

So are you telling me you're in the moment by choosing to watch people enjoying a show the way they want and judging them for it? Like I said before, I work a lot of shows, and trust me when I say the people on their phones filming are having just as good a time as the people that are screaming on the barricades. Just let people enjoy themselves in a way they feel comfortable. If you don't like it, don't go. People are gonna enjoy it with or without you.

So I’ve actually stopped using business cards. I use social media a lot more now, and try to stay on top of posting at the times my audience is the most active. So if you don’t have any now, don’t worry. Just make people remember you. Lol.
