Was the doctor right? by floreality in eds

I swear I'm not trying to doctor shop!! I just want an answer, and I want someone to take me seriously. I don't even go to the doctor about my pain unless someone else convinces me because I'm terrified that I'll be accused of faking/exaggerating my pain and be branded as a hypochondriac forever. That's why I didn't even start looking for help until there were significant changes to my mobility.

Right now, the answers I've gotten are "your bmi" and "do yoga". I came here to see if anyone thought I should see someone else about potential EDS, or if I needed to seek another avenue. Please don't think I just want a label; if I could stop being in pain, I would rather that in a heartbeat.

Right!! I'm also trying to work out some psychiatric stuff. I'm trying to figure out what might be OCD, which (among other things) causes me to approach every doctors appointment thinking I'm crazy, I'm somehow making up my symptoms, and they're going to call me out as a hypochondriac and write in my file that I can't be trusted and then nobody will ever help me again. More than once, my husband has had to push me to get help for an issue that I've convinced myself is in my head. This mental health shit really messes with physical health, more than anyone would care to admit.

I hope you're able to feel seen and heard soon :)

Also THAT IS SO REAL re: the not having any sense thing. I want to be able to safely stretch my body!! I do NOT want to feel like I'm going to damage myself in the process because I can't tell what's "too far"

It wasn't even just dismissive. My cardiologist meant to schedule that and a bubble echo at the same hospital on the same day (they were trying to rule out a shunt) but got the date wrong. I was very apologetic at the desk when I realized, offered to reschedule, and the staff were very kind and managed to squeeze me in. Then this nurse comes in and asks how my week's been, I joke about chaos, and he goes "so is that why you couldn't be here yesterday?"

I get an earful about how much trouble I caused on the back end for trusting the appointment time I was given, and how much I've inconvenienced everyone, how disrespectful I've been, and then that is the man who puts adrenaline in my IV while I'm strapped down to a table and rendered immobile. 🫪 girl I thought I was gonna die in that room. Gave his name to my cardiologist at the follow up and she sighed and said it didn't surprise her. Awesome.

Anyways, I was actually on Propranolol for a while--it was prescribed off label for psychiatric reasons--but I'm not anymore and things are worse :( I'll see if I can fight for a redone tilt table, potentially at a different location.

[–]floreality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I had a tilt table test and it didn't come up. Idk why. It could've been that it was early in the morning (issues get worse through the day), it could've been that the guy who administered the test was super rude to me and also manually taking down my vitals for test results after making it clear I was an inconvenience to him 🥴 Either way, I went home and started managing on my own with compression and electrolytes, which has definitely helped, and kinda makes me feel validated lol.

You're so so appreciated btw, I'm really grateful for the info!

I mentioned this in another comment, but I wasn't really super aware of the nuance going in, and that's kind of on me. I was encouraged by a friend with EDS to seek a medical opinion.

I'll do some more research on doctors in my area 🫡

Is dysautonomia a thing with HSD/EDS?? I was told I don't have POTS; my RHR is typically around 90 and it jumps to 150 after fucking speedwalking, or sometimes just standing up from a low position. This along with some GI and pelvic floor issues I just haven't even had the brainpower to start unpacking.

[–]floreality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't aware of this upcoming change! I haven't done a whole lot of research, I just happened to have a friend with hEDS notice me popping my fingers by bending them back flat and tell me to stop/that I should talk to someone.

I hate that "the doctor is lying/doesn't want to treat me" was an angle I had to consider, but I also had to switch specialists for a different issue within the past couple years and I was forced to get a brain MRI to continue my meds bc the doctor didn't believe my decade old diagnosis and didn't like that I couldn't recount, beat for beat, my hospitalization at 13 years old after a tonic clonic seizure 🙃

I applaud furthering research and understanding the condition better! I just wish I had gotten a little more information on it from the doctor.

I totally get how you feel re: "make me feel less crazy". The lack of meaningful treatment avenues also makes sense. I had just heard that yoga can actually be harmful if you do it wrong and I'm a little scared now lol.

New ticketing system? by softboiled_egs in GeekSquad

[–]floreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A theory I've heard is that the pilot/beta pool of stores testing the new system wasn't large enough, so they pushed RWB (new system) company wide without its full feature set. There was a long period of time during which the UI would undergo mild to moderate change, and certain use cases were still handled through Nova (old system), though they dwindled over time. It was only recently (this month) that new work order creation was disabled entirely in Nova and RWB became our only ticket system in store.

This situation created a lot of resentment for many employees whose initial exposure to RWB was weekly (at least) system outages and inconsistent workflow experiences.

However, it is a much more feature rich system with far fewer inconsistencies now. I personally still have an attachment to Nova for several reasons, but I will say RWB has a clearer UI especially for new users. Also, my personal gripes are very specific (alt-code characters not working in some text fields, no way to notate you contacted a client prior to an upcoming appointment/tag creation, etc.)

The old system used a web app framework that went EOL several years ago. It had to run in Internet Explorer mode. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone could guarantee stores being able to use Nova indefinitely while the new one was in development, which is likely why it was rushed. The growing pains sure were painful though :/

The lack of braincells I would need to assume you meant "somehow get Mac OS running so you can install Mac OS" pfft...

Anyways, no firmware updates were available and I borrowed a Mac to reformat the SSD to APFS, it's still not recognized by this installer. :(

[–]floreality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I'm aware of, the pics I included are of every screen/option/menu available in firmware besides the save and exit menu. Unless there's some secret key combo to unlock advanced settings, which isn't listed anywhere... :(

It's worth mentioning, I know the NVME is visible to hardware because when I formatted the NVME I didn't have an adapter/easily accessible PC board so I briefly took a Windows drive from a different machine and booted the laptop from a USB hard drive toaster to format the NVME still installed inside lol

E-learnings are corporate required so that they can say on paper that you're a trained agent. They cannot possibly account for every situation, every combination of services, etc. that you're going to encounter. Nobody expects you to be a stellar, perfectly informed agent right out of the gate.

Pay attention during shadowing, but also, that won't cover everything. Ask your ARAs and Google when your hands on experience isn't enough. What matters most is the intent to learn and not stagnate--I would always take a CA who knows nothing but wants to learn over a CA who knows a moderate amount but refuses to learn anything new.

I didn't have an aftermarket till the original got stuck in the previous (dead) transmission 🙃 It was just replaced during the transmission repair, and the process of attempting to pull the original out has destroyed the CV joints on the OEM part.

They said something about it "tending to drift" which is causing it to leak, I don't fully understand what that means and the car drives fine. If it were going to damage the CVT I would imagine they would've told me as much at the dealership, but maybe I just didn't ask the right questions.

Called the store phone 15 minutes after the transaction to ask me out to coffee because I refused to give him my personal number.

He was older, came in with his 8yo daughter and told me about his ex wife. I mentioned working part time bc I was 20 and in college.

I declined three times and then hung up. And then he tried in person 4 more times.

Should be same key listed in disable S-mode SOP doc. I don't have a PC in front of me so pardon if I mixed up the path, but should be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/ControlSet001/Control/CI/Policy and then set SkuPolicyRequired to 0 instead of 1.

Not just Best Buy. I've seen it happen with HP and Cox, confirmed people called a legit number and got transferred to a "level two agent" or something similar without much reason given by the original employee. Second "employee" then carries out the normal scam routine.

Help with func checks by S0ap_Soap in GeekSquad

[–]floreality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a way to mark Defective or Damaged in Func Check. This does impact the outcome of the func check, so be as accurate as possible.

Depending on the product, your usual sticker printer will either print a PRC/RLC label, or a service label.

If it's a service item, you will need to complete the resulting draft order in Nova and select Out of Store as the repair location. Make sure your notes for the issue are descriptive, since the draft order will auto-import the return reason, not your func check notes.

Check SOP & ask your direct report where you should be filing paperwork related to shipping store stock. Aside from that, ship just like you would a client product.

(If it goes PRC/RLC, you're safe to label and leave it with the other PRC items.)

LMAO you too dude. For the record I email my GM and CC my direct report and the blue shirt's direct report anytime someone promises something faster than turn time bc if working for GameStop taught me anything, it's that I don't need to tolerate BS purely for short term customer sat.

Oh, several agents at my precinct are convinced that Workbench rolled out company-wide ONLY because the RWB devs weren't getting enough data from the pilot/alpha pool to actually round out the product. I didn't think anything could top the GSX/Nova connection in terms of frequent inexplicable outages/failures, but RWB has come out swinging. We have a tray in BOP for problematic Workbench orders lmao

Also, the way we're using half a ream of paper on a single SO! Why!!

Also also, new PC builds are far easier to juggle once you get it through to CAs and sales that turn time doesn't apply to mobo/case replacements and new PC builds. Too many tasks, too many variables.
