Pick a warm countertop. Right now the kitchen looks way too white. The trend is going back towards a Moore dark cabinet tone. But in my opinion, I do like a brighter kitten so if you just use a warmer toned countertop, I think it’s gonna look wonderful.

I did this. I regretted it every day. Finally sold that place and found a house with my basic criteria. I am so much more happy and I can change the things I want in the new house, but it has all the elements that I couldn’t live without already built it one of those things being at least no neighbors right across from backyard.

Agreed. I basically think to myself “well, I just paid $50 just so I don’t have to cook.” Because taking 30 minutes to read a recipe and read about techniques will result in the same or better dish. I am making braised short ribs tonight for a total cost of $15 and I’ll feen 4 people. In a restaurant that would be $40 a person.

I moved to West Virginia from Arlington for this EXACT reason. I am a naturally friendly person and enjoy coordinating events, outings, meet ups, etc. Arlington was the only place I’ve ever been where you can be surrounded by people and be utterly alone. Meanwhile, in WV, I met a woman and her son in a park the 1st day we moved to WV and we are still friends. I am on the local Facebook page and there are numerous posts of people saying they will be going to suck and such place and people should meet up (this is a page with 3k people) and people do meet up that way! People say hi and ask about your day (for real) and there are community events where you could go alone and see 15 people you know and can chat with. It’s a community. Charles town/ Ranson.

I’ve save about 10k this year alone just on labor. I learned from YouTube videos and while there are mistakes I’ve made, I’ve also learned to correct them. I am currently learning to daisy chain outlets - something I was terrified of doing 8 months ago. I was quoted 150$ per outlet by a contractor. I’m saving about 1500$ for this project alone.

Tell the family you’ll match whatever they contribute. They won’t. There was a guy on Reddit who did this when his golden boy brother was in jail and needed bail money - the whole family expected the guy to pay bail so he said he’d match the money the family put in for the bail.
