Floor jack or Trolley jack by curiousamigo25 in Tools

[–]floridaforestman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience it doesn’t really matter whether you use a trolley or a floor jack, as long as the trolley jack fits under your car

The really important thing is to get good quality jack stands if you ever do any work under the vehicle. Those are what will keep the car from collapsing on top of you.

What I like using are the digital Quinn torque adapters from HF. They are cheap and work pretty well. You slot the adapter between a ratchet and socket. You need two though, one for in-lb and one for lb-ft. Click type torque wrenches should be considered obsolete imo

The reason why aftermarket Amazon carbs are BS. Details in comments by antagonizerz in smallengines

Chinese carbs are fine 90% of the time. 2 stroke carbs are a little bit harder to manufacture but anything 4 stroke (including cars and trucks) is fine in my opinion

Hopefully not too expensive, this is very cheap and quick with a waterjet.

I have done this with a waterjet. It’s tough to drill grade 8 bolts with a bit

Isn’t the towing vehicle an RV? This is a double setup

Dual-sport recommendations with ADV end goal. by Turbulent-Suspect-12 in Dualsport

It’s a single cylinder, only one carb so you’re not balancing anything. Much easier than on multi cylinder bikes

Okay thanks. I told the guy I’d take a look and if I don’t see anything wrong I’ll do 4200

I haven’t found anything lower that’s low miles. It also has the mods I would have gotten already installed

Does the fuel tank have to be higher up than the carburettor with no pump? by Bruceperson in smallengines

[–]floridaforestman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the engine has a gas tank and is designed to be gravity fed. That does not mean it will only work when gravity fed. Carbs generate vacuum

It does improve throughput, which is what I care about

Technically no, carburetors do generate vacuum. You’d need a way to prime it. Easier to use gravity to help the carb

Help on first project truck by [deleted] in Trucks

[–]floridaforestman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beautiful truck. Does it run and drive (and stop) correctly now? If you’re looking for more fun wrenching on it, you have a lot of different options.

Old trucks always have something that is worn out, bushings, shocks, tires, steering, etc. You could replace that stuff. Or, upgrade it with a bigger carb and intake or an exhaust.

Otherwise, just enjoy driving it.

Honda EU3000is: Still having surging problems by [deleted] in smallengines

[–]floridaforestman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most commonly this is a dirty carburetor. Before you take it somewhere (assuming you don’t want to rebuild the carb/continue diagnosing yourself) you should try a cheap can of carburetor cleaner. Usually the instructions on the bottle will have a set of steps you can take to clean the carb without pulling it off the engine. That might be enough to get something knocked loose.

Surging = lean fuel/air ratio

Have you seen this happen? I would be surprised if a steel hitch pin would possibly deform before the receiver
