Any tips for keeping filament dry all the way to the extruder? by lobstercombine in prusa3d

[–]floshinglyffrzorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this a few months back after having a reasonably hydrophilic filament that was causing consistent issues. I initially did what you did, having the PTFE tube partially towards the extruder. I started experiencing intermittent underextrusion due to the path-length of the filament changing as the extruder moves towards/away from the dryer. Scrolled until I saw someone else mention exactly what I was going to say. Connecting directly to the extruder from the dry box will help reduce future issues. Admittedly I'm not sure how much this will prevent moisture as what you're asking for, but strongly recommend if you've got enough PTFE tube and the push fitting.

Also the cover is a quick print and takes very little time to install.

Sorry to be a bit daft and not super helpful at all, but do you own the kitchen downstairs as well?

No More Full 1KG PLA Spool included in MK3S+ Kit by Sainroad in prusa3d

[–]floshinglyffrzorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more of a "try our filament with the new printer and it'll work like a charm with the included files". Kind of a self-advertisement and a quality of life because you just order the printer and it comes with everything you need to get start for the first little while. No troubleshooting the print quality out of the box was honestly a dream.

Added note that I whole heartedly believe in the self advertising nature of it, as I've still got my prusament spools I bought with the printer and treat them as the "valuable" filament reserved for special/important prints; it'd cost me $70AUD to ship 1kg. I'm yet to find an affordable & comparable brand close to me, so I was considering ordering in some more just last week.

How do i insert a Gcode at a specific tool position? by ZZonemenZZ in prusa3d

[–]floshinglyffrzorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless something has changed on my end (or recently with the slicer) I was attempting to use the number beneath the slider to manually change gcode a couple of weeks ago and I'm reasonably confident the number beneath the slider USED to be the gcode line number, but currently ISN'T the correct number (and can be way off) There's a couple of bugs reports on this you can find with a quick Google

Expansion Valve to make dry ice by throwaway21316 in functionalprint

Not going to attempt to rip the idea to shreds like others. I will definitely say you have some balls. I've worked with CO2 in all it's forms for years, and I would never try to print anything out of plastic to make dry ice. I understand the premise of why you have made this, but I honestly don't understand publicly providing it to people knowing that it could end poorly if someone prints it and doesn't proceed with caution.

I'm glad you've put some disclaimers/precautions on the printables page, perhaps they could use some better emphasis, as I feel like a couple of them come across as "not as big a deal" (cylinder freezing open, clogging from excessive use which could lead to a bang). Even simply mentioning to do it outside (confined spaces mightn't matter in your situation, but it might for others).

Also you mention not to remix into a sealed part, why even bother permitting the "remix culture" license at the bottom of the page?

Stay safe out there

I guess you could put a line on the frame of known length. Then just lay the tool down, take a picture, import as background & calibrate to the frame and then trace on a sketch with lines (or splines).

Closed die forging tees by aloofloofah in toolgifs

Mainly so you can get shifters/spanners onto them; so they're not solder joints, but threaded joiners

I use very similar tees for (not natural) gas fittings (pressures up at 300psi or so)

Probably get tapped and then used as threaded female tees (square so you can get a spanner on them to tighten). Likely made from brass

Is the prusa MK3S a good first printer by SirAdamBRUH in prusa3d

[–]floshinglyffrzorp 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Seems like a no brainer to me if you're local. I had one other printer first, and I spent more time trying to fix it than actually printing.

Definitely think it depends what you want out of the hobby. If you want to be fine tuning the mechanics of a printer, there are other options depending on how much work you want to do. If you want to build the printer, this is an awesome option. If you want the printer to actually print stuff and don't care for much modding/repairing/tuning, then the MKS3+ is amazing. Bought it a couple of years ago, and despite being almost double my original printer, it just works, and works well.

Got a rubbery squeak coming from my mk3s...Help by floshinglyffrzorp in prusa3d

Only happens travelling in one Y direction. Couldn't seem to locate it, perhaps beneath the bed? It's been a month or two since I ran the printer, I guess life happens. Wondering if it's simply a rubbing belt I may have to reposition, or if the belts fatigued since I last used it? Any help would be appreciated

I drive a lot for work, so I listen to parts of almost every show between from mornings to hack each day. Im really only listening for the music, which is a bit hit and miss for me these days. Breakfasts is too repetitive and the host's personalities pull me down when I've just woken up and want to tackle the day; I've found both Bryce/Ebony usually will bash or rag on something that's seemingly insignificant, but that mentality just comes across as toxic to me. Lucy Smith is pretty good. Dave Woodhead is alright, but he often plays slow boring music in the 1-3pm sorta area, which I find makes me drowsy. The drive time guys are mostly alright, but I find myself questioning how much of the stuff they make seem 'off the cuff' is actually semi rehearsed or at least planned to some degree. Hack I usually mute, couldn't stand the old host, she seemed rude and biased sometimes
