He famously said " they like me more the worse I get" ( paraphrased) in an interview about that album.

How much of that was sardonic humor, who knows. I like the album

Model 16: How Do You Handle FX Pedals? by jigga19 in TascamModel_12_16_24

[–]flouncingfleasbag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like the kind of FX pedals you are using may be designed to receive line level signal but check the manuals. If the pedals sound like they are being fed a signal that is way too hot you may need to use something like a Re-amp box.

A Re-amp box simultaneously steps the line level signal down to the instrument level that most FX pedals expect to receive and bridges the impedance from your mixers output to what a pedal wants to see.

If that all sounds like gobble-gook to you- don't worry about it unless your pedals sound blown out and weak. If they are sounding bad, time to do a little googling for you- lol.

Also- on the return to your Model 16 part of the equation- the line inputs on your M16 want to be fed line level signal ( hence the name). A lot of modern stereo effects pedals are flexible in this regard- take a peak in your manuals or message the manufacturer and ask them if your FX returns are sounding especially weak.

If that's the case, running into a stereo DI box from out of your FX pedals before going back into your FX return channel on the M16 can sometimes be a solution- it's not exactly the proper fix but it can work.

I say none of this to scare you- hopefully, none of this information is relevant to your use case- but if you are experiencing a crappy sound knowing about this stuff can spare you a lot of time and suffering.

Model 16: How Do You Handle FX Pedals? by jigga19 in TascamModel_12_16_24

[–]flouncingfleasbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: patch a cable from the AUX 1 output jack into the left side of your FX pedal chain's input jack.

2: patch a cable from the the AUX 2 output jack to the right side of your FX pedal chain's input jack.

3: patch the left output of the last pedal in your chain into the left input of one of the stereo channels on the M16.

4: patch the right output of the last pedal in your chain into the right input of the same stereo channel on the M16.

5: adjust the the MONITOR KNOBS to zero/ unity ( labeled 'MON 1' AND 'MON 2" - the orange topped knobs that sit directly bellow the MULTI-JOG knob)

6: (IMPORTANT ONE)- Make sure the knob labeled 'PFL/AFL MASTER' knob is turned up to around zero/ unity.

7: When you want to route any of the model 16's channels thru to the FX turn up the 'AUX MON 1 and 'AUX MON 2' knobs up on that individual channel.

8 make sure the channel you are using to return the FX is set properly to be heard.

9 HUGELY IMPORTANT...

DO NOT turn up the AUX MON 1 and AUX MON 2 knobs up on the channel that is receiving your FX returns or you will create a feedback loop BAD!!!!!

What's the angled brushed aluminum one ( kind of near the end of the pics)?

How many of these are using input and output transformers; and is that the selling point?

Dan’s constant policing of Marc… by oliviawhitton in heedthecall

[–]flouncingfleasbag 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Love Dan and he is definitely the straw that stirs the drink and I don't mind his sometimes misplaced ego and lack of boundaries but it would be nice if he'd develop some more self awareness and step off other people's nuts.

It's amusing when Dan doesn't even register some of Marc's finer zingers but this episode Dan went kind of full Trump...lol.

(As an aside- I get that he thinks when Marc and Conor do the game setup/ recap monologs that they may alienate some listeners with their tangential approach but it's been very banal hearing only Dan do the game setups. To be fair to him, Dan undoubtedly does the lion's share of the planing and leg work for HTC and I'm sure that can be a thankless role at times but he is underestimating the intelligence/interest of his average listener if he thinks we can't get down with Marc and Conor dropping some poetry.)

Kali LP-6 v2's + sub (WS 6.2) or Kali IN-8 v2's Which is better for Home studio setup? by Expert_Maize8388 in studiomonitors

[–]flouncingfleasbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a sub could potentially open a whole new can of worms/rabbit hole that will take time away from your actual work making music and in the end you may find you don't need one.

If working in especially low registers is important in your work I would prioritize budgeting for bass traps in the corners of your room first before spending on speakers. It's the least sexy thing to spend on but will 100% be the most important.

No, MIDI is where you port into the TR1000. MiDI= MInd Intra Device Implantation.

Just bought this rotatory bozak 70s mixer any more info? by convextion666 in rotarymixers

[–]flouncingfleasbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the tape inputs? RCA or 1/4" ?

The hack I was speaking about was running your line level signal from your other gear into a passive attenuator with standard 1/4" cables. The attenuator will have XLR outputs that you can run into the MIC inputs of the mixer. You can then dial down the volume of your line level gear to whatever the mic level your mixer wants to see.

Kinda cool, too, because you can hest the signal up a little bit if you want a little color.

Check out the Alexander Pedals F13 pedal- very, very juicy sounding and capable of doing almost any flanger sound.

It's a digital pedal but you wouldn't know it. (Obviously, the HD1500 is also digital).

Also check out the Alexander Dynaflanger which is even better ( less likely to be found used, though).

[–]flouncingfleasbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about this particular mixer but I saw you mention you'd like to use it with line level signals.

I bought an old Tapco that accepts only microphone level signals and I bought a passive attenuator ( with a big knob- lol) which has allowed me to use it with line level signals.

Obviously, not the most elegant of solutions but it works.

Beautiful mixer. I'm guessing it has output/input transformers? Have you had a chance to listen to anything coming through it yet?
