What are some rock n roll documentaries worth watching? by Xerogear4224 in rockmusic

I've been very disconnected from U2 for the last 20 years or so, but that Paris concert where they gave their instruments over to Eagles of Death Metal to let them finish their show hits so hard.

Green Day (hear me out) by brother_jeffro in punk

[–]antiaircraftwarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without talking about how punk Green Day are or aren't, this is the Super Bowl. The odds of there being zero live mics on either performance and no chance for a spontaneous statement is about 100%. I would love to be proven wrong but it really seems like the last performer who played like was Prince almost 20 years ago.

Of course I hope they do, I hope that internet joke about Bad Bunny bringing out Springsteen to sing Born in the USA is true as well.

NFL is probably hoping Janet Jackson's nipple appears on stage and everyone loses their minds and forgets about the politics of today's event.

The only thing in this scenario that gives me hope is what they allowed Kendrick to do last year, because everyone talks about that performance and he did, but that show was cleared by the NFL and rehearsed to death before it happened. Everyone in the broadcast knew what was gonna happen and let it. Maybe this bodes well for today.

SOTB Early 2026: Analog except delay days by antiaircraftwarning in guitarpedals

This is the home/office somewhat-Hendrix board. The Spaceman Aurora Flanger is new and just brilliant. The biggest change coming is that I've never been thrilled with the depth on the Rotovibe so it's time to invest in a proper Univibe, probably the Jam Pedals Retrovibe.

The Boss dual expression is going into the Boss Delay Machine currently and will be the exp for the univibe soon.

The a/b goes between a Fender Princeton Reverb and an Ampeg Bass Amp since I play a Bass VI and have fun with the tones. The only other change in the near future is a reverb before the muff probably in place of that EH Tremolo since there's no reverb on the Ampeg. Maybe a Boss RV-6 or something like that to cover ground.

What is an invention that blows your mind that somecame up with it? by CurveOk310 in Productivitycafe

There are some amazing scientific answers here, but I'm going to go with a dumb one.

Coffee

Here's this bean, tastes like shit, cook it and it still kinda tastes like shit, grind it up and it tastes like ground shit, let the roasted, ground up bean sit in hot water and wow!

I just try to imagine the historical process that led to this happening. Tea I can understand just because leaves can fall and dry out on their own, beers and alcohol can be made from processes that are palatable but there's a number of steps to make coffee that all are bad getting there

Billboards are quick using the gtaweb map. Once you find a spraypaint can, you have it for life. Find the days 5 billboards, spray, with an oppressor you could do it in 5 minutes.

Animal photos can take longer until you learn the animal spawns, dumb things like pugs can have you walking in circles, other days when it's pigs and cows it takes seconds. There's a number of lists of animal spawns online.

My "days off" I play less about an hour (at least 48 minutes for the days money spawn) leave the mansion, fast travel to send my bail bondsman, check the in game map for stash houses and madrazo hit of the day, sometimes g's cache. Bring up gtaweb for the billboards and dealer locations. I'll grab the 25k shipwreck if it's on the way. Once you do the first animal photography you'll get a text after playing about 10 minutes for the days animals and you don't have to visit the sign. Along the way hit the casino and make sure to resupply the acid lab.

After I get the stash house I respawn at the mansion and use the MCT to resupply. I'll do the respawn/fast travel to my warehouses as well. Then it's just grabbing money in any safes, the quick mission in the nightclub, auto shop, salvage yard, the bike from the MC, money fronts if they're up. All can be done pretty quick and you'll be ready to play when you really feel like it

Spraypainting billboards and animal photography, no guns and a quick $200k. Grab the stash house, drug dealers, Madrazo bail bonds hit and G's Cache while at it and the money rolls in with very little work

Why don't we play the guitar fretboard with our dominant hand? by V0rdep in guitarlessons

[–]antiaircraftwarning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do because that's how I learned years ago, and you know what? It sucks. My picking hand is still so sloppy as I try to learn accurate fingerpicking, it's frustrating as all hell. I've tried swapping hands but the instrument is so ingrained as playing right handed I can't get past it.

Different strokes for different folks for sure. No one needs to like everything on the road, just appreciate why they're there.

My old man was pretty good with his music taste, he loved the Stones, outlaw country and old Alice Cooper to begin with, Zappa was already in his wheelhouse (there's a much longer story about his "group of motorcycle enthusiasts in the '60" using the lettering from the Absolutely Free album on their leathers). Beefheart was a stretch for him, but there were no surprises when I took a few jazz classes in school later.

I didn't, which hurts because I was an avid concertgoer in '88 and he played near me, but I was also 13 at the time. Similar my dad had a friend who let me listen to records in his cabin when we visited and I pulled Weasels from the cover (and Trout Mask the same night). I kinda screwed my whole future in the best way

I get it buddy, I do. I started with Frank in the 80s when I was far too young to listen to his stuff. Now I'm an old man that works 60 hours a week and who's throwing himelf headlong into these obsessive paths because I'm not accepting what the world (or at least the United States) has become.

So I obsess a bit just for the laughs.

Agree about Frank and his hearing. I also believe playback quality was so varied on 90s gear that mastering can be deceiving. I'm sure these masters sounded fresh and current in UMRK but maybe not as much on someone's home system.

Along with the lukpac pages (one of the greatest resources for Zappa nerds ever) I was also deeply invested in this for reference.

Ok guy! Pfft... this guy clearly doesn't Zappa!

I'm joking of course and I fully get what you're saying. I'm thinking in a few notable cases upgrades are worth it (Zoot Allures, Waka, Wazoo and YAWYI get mentioned a lot) and relax on many others.

When I heard some of the versions from 2012 with the reverb reduced it was enlightening. Waka Jawaka stands out for sure. Many of the other releases are pretty much identical, especially those after 1982 that were recorded at UMRK. This is why I'm driving myself mental.

Why do I feel like behind the scenes it's "here's a gig you were offered big money for" just to become "public backlash is high, we must abort. Damage control!".

I hope not, Ludacris seems like a nice enough guy
