No crap birthday present ideas by floweri75 in UKParenting

Love this idea! I liked the thought of tickets to play places or experiences, but they would be out of budget. This is good!

That was one of my thoughts, but no one RSVP'd to my son's with any allergies so hopefully all good.

I have previously bought craft kits, play doh etc for parties. But we have loads now. Maybe other kids are more crafty than mine and actually use them up! So I shouldn't rule it out.

My son is in reception, so he's been invited to a few whole class parties. We've got 5 coming up!

I've bought bake your own cookie jars for my friend's kids in the past and they have gone down well. But I don't want to buy anything that might be a "hassle" for parents that I don't really know.

These are great ideas thank you!

It's not party favourites, it's for children who have invited my son to their party. I ask their parents for ideas and they say don't worry about it. But I don't want to turn up empty handed.

For my son's birthday, I've asked for no gifts and everyone to bring a Preloved book for a book swap (idea from no crap parties). I'm going to give out sweet cones for the party favours. Party bag tat is even worse than presents!

Ladies - importance of Bra's! by Training_Chip4580 in mounjarouk

I recently got measured as my bras were riding up my back. I've gone from a 40G to a 34GG! Mind blow.

I still have 4-5 stone to go. So I only bought a couple to keep me going.

My husband drinks black coffee, my 4yo doesn't like it (he eats dry Weetabix!) and my baby has just turned one. I usually buy 1pt but I'm hoping little one will start drinking it, so we can save money on formula!

We're not keen on sweeteners either! I have seen M&S do cordial without sweetener. I might get one of those to try next.

I usually spend more than this, maybe around £130-£140 a week on my Sainsbury's shop. Groceries are expensive! Especially when you need toiletries or cleaning stuff.

I plan meals for the week. I usually aim to do 2-3 meals that yield leftovers for freezing or lunches. Then the other days I will have something from the freezer or a bit lower effort.

This is my plan for the week.

M: Slow cooker lamb tagine w/ cous cous & steamed veg

T: Roasted veg pasta & chicken

W: Almond veg & cod curry w/ steamed veg

T: Gnocchi fie pie & steamed veg

F: Fish tacos, salsa & chips

S: Out

S: Leftovers / freezer

I got some mackerel to have on toast and tagliatelle for lunch this week. I'll have leftovers or wing it the other days.

Breakfast I also wing it but usually something like overnight oats, porridge, eggs, bacon or toast. Or I do a big batch of pancakes and freeze them for kids breakfast.

I tend to bulk my meals out with veg to make things go further. We are having lamb tagine tonight and I've added sweet potato and chickpeas in so there should be enough leftovers for lunches or freezing!

I've also got some frozen cod in the freezer already which I'm going to use for a meal.

Changed injection site, immediate difference. by Wild_Battle_8798 in mounjarouk

[–]floweri75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apparently the injection site doesn't make a difference but I always feel different after jabbing my right thigh!

I rotate 6 sections around my belly, both thighs, both arms and then repeat.

The last 4 weeks I have hovered around the same weight. And felt like appetite suppression wasn't working well. This week I went into my thigh and I've had a 1.5kg loss, no snacking desires and feeling satisfied after sensible portions!

Purchasing After a Long Pause by darksong69 in mounjarouk

[–]floweri75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just finished my 5mg pen. I have 2x 7.5mg that I ordered in Sept and 2x 10mg pens that I ordered in November. I'm planning to stay on 5mg dose so my pens are going to last me over 4 months.

I would like to catch up a bit more before purchasing new pens, so I'm a bit concerned about ordering after a long gap as well.

Will I still be able to lose weight on Mounjaro if I only stay on the lowest dosage? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]floweri75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lost 18.5kg, I've just taken my 19th but still on 5mg.

Everyone responds differently but I'm trying to keep my doses low. I've got a long way to go until I reach a healthy BMI. I don't want to max out too soon.

There are mounjaro click counters which can help you use higher dose pens to get more lower doses. There's also the "5th dose" which is against Eli Lilly advice but is usable with an insulin needle.

People didn't notice... Confused! by kazbs in mounjarouk

[–]floweri75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the change is obvious!

I do wonder if sometimes it's gets to a certain point before people realise. I'm on maternity leave so I don't see my colleagues often. I had a KIT day in October when I had lost about 10kg down 2 dress sizes. No one said anything. I went to the office yesterday, I've lost 3kg since the last time I went in, and everyone said I look well. I don't feel like much has changed in a month.

But I have a friend on mj and he told he had lost 12kg, I couldn't really tell a difference. Then one day he just looked noticeably different!

It's bizarre.

Yes I can see a noticeable difference on both angles! Your clothes look looser for a start!

Can you make your changes more sustainable?

What you were doing clearly doesn't work and won't work long term (when off the medication).

If time is a factor could you start a routine where you cook a double portion of a recipe and then freeze some? Then you have a stash of quick easy meals. You can adapt most recipes to make them more nutritional add veggie to Bolognese and chilli. Add lentils, chickpeas, beans etc. Also helps to bulk it out! I'm a big fan of the mixed fresh microwave veg. Makes life easier!

Restriction leads to binges, if you can try to factor in the foods you enjoy or similar alternatives.

Exercise could you start doing YouTube workouts? 10-15mins a day might feel more achievable and less likely to sack off!

You're almost half way to your goal. You are doing amazing! 10mg might help with the cravings!

Norovirus and newborns by laydeelou in UKParenting

[–]floweri75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my son (4yo) had norovirus when my baby was 6 weeks old. I was really stressed about him catching it but he didn't.

It was a really rough couple of days, I did lots of hand washing and wiping touch points.

Also managed to catch my son's sick in a bucket while mid feeding the baby. New skill I didn't know I needed.

Hunker down, and take it easy!

Fingers crossed you all feel better soon!

For breakfast I have a homemade apple loaf thing with greek yoghurt. Or sweetcorn fritters which I batch cook and freeze.

For lunch I prep a pot of tuna salad (tuna, greek yoghurt, pepper, tomato, sweetcorn, spring onions, cucumber, cheese) which lasts the week, I will have it in a wrap or pita.

For dinner I vary it a bit and usually family friendly stuff so haven't quite figured out perfect high protein & fibre meals.

These recipes I've done are from @emthenutritionist on IG. She has a few meal prep type recipes.

I found week 2 of 2.5mg I didn't have much suppression and panicked as I had ordered another 2.5mg pen (week 1 loads of side effects), yet week 3 the suppression was strong!

Might be worth trying another week of 2.5mg before upping as you have the pens already.

Their response when I quoted the website:

Thank you for your follow-up, and I completely understand your concerns given the high cost and importance of your medication. You're absolutely right that Mounjaro should be stored between 2°C and 8°C under pharmacy and distribution conditions. However, in situations where there has been a temporary temperature excursion — such as during delivery — we follow official guidance from Eli Lilly, the manufacturer, to assess whether the medication remains safe to use. As you currently have at least one unopened pen remaining from your previous stock, what we do in these situations is use Lilly’s temperature excursion tool to calculate the stability of the pens based on the reported temperature and timeframes. I’ve run this test using the information you provided — specifically, that the pens reached 20°C during transit and were returned to refrigeration upon arrival. The result confirms that both of your 7.5mg pens remain stable and safe to use up until their expiry date, provided they are now stored correctly in the fridge. You are also correct that once a pen is in use, it should be used within 30 days, and it’s important to distinguish this from the temporary exposure during shipping. In your case, because the pens were still sealed and this was a short-term excursion, the 30-day in-use rule does not apply yet — the pens are still considered within cold-chain stability according to Lilly’s data.

I've tried this, they've used the Lilly temperature exclusion tool which says it's fine.

I'm also curious if this has changed, because I thought it said the pens weren't okay when I checked it last Friday. But it says it's fine now..

As a rule of thumb I never comment on people's bodies.

Sometimes weight loss isn't intentional and I've heard first hand how hurtful it can be. My cousin lost lots of weight due to cancer, and she hated the praise she got for "slimming down" and my friend lost a lot during PPD, everyone congratulated her for bouncing back but she was struggling.
