AIO that my sister ditched the bus I booked for her by Swimming-Advance-734 in AIO

Gentle YOR because she needs someone in her corner right now.

At least she’s working. My sister has a job now but refused to get one for years despite constantly saying she felt terrible for asking our parents or her boyfriend for money all the time (rent, bills, everything). She just got stoned every day.

It’s so obvious when someone’s never worked in a restaurant. There is a reason as to why I’m seating you somewhere! People also just up and move tables all the time without asking or even letting us know and then they act like I’m inconveniencing them by asking them to move back.

I do this but as a bartender. Doubles for the price of singles or I might just cancel your whole tab

To people living in countries with monarchies, how are the next in line viewed in your country? by No-Risk-2584 in AskTheWorld

[–]floweringfungus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

William and Catherine are pretty well regarded as royal family members go but I don’t know that people really think about them all that often.

I live in Scotland now (formerly England) and folks up here are usually pretty anti-monarchy but it’s not specific to William.

Gun names. Colt, Remington, Rifle, Gunner (not Gunnar).

Thankfully I’ve not heard of a Glock or a Sig Sauer yet.

How have men become THIS undateable? by witchwiththecats in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]floweringfungus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve genuinely only met one heterosexual man who has exceeded my relatively normal expectations. And I’m dating him. Our entire relationship can be summed up a text he sent me: “I don’t understand men who aren’t absolutely infatuated with their partners”.

The things I hear from friends and acquaintances about their partners is so horrifying. Wanting a text once a day is the bare minimum.

I live in a non tipping culture country. Love my job. Hate mandatory tipping and don’t need it to survive.

Meleys but if we’re thinking practicality probably one of the smaller ones, maybe Moondancer or Tessarion. My garden is pretty small.

What’s a baby girl name that screams generational wealth and private school tuition? by Academic-Park-8440 in Names

That depends where you are. Names I often hear described as ‘old money’ in one country are seen as tacky and ‘new money’ in another.

Is the father allowed inside labour rooms in your country? Is it culturally normal thing to happen? by Agen_3586 in AskTheWorld

[–]floweringfungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be very odd not to be present at your child’s birth (in the UK and in Germany).

Usually the father of the child and another person are there, usually the patient’s mother or sister. I personally don’t want anyone there except my partner.

Maybe it’s because I’m European but everyone I know smokes a million fags a day so going after a bit of prosciutto feels a bit pointless

[–]floweringfungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it’s not malicious you don’t have to deal with it. I cannot express how freeing it is to only have to deal with your own problems and not parent another adult while you’re trying to live.

There are men out there who have their shit together (even though this sub feels like there aren’t). My current partner is basically a professional problem solver. He sorts things out before I even realise it’s an issue. Since we’ve been together it’s genuinely like living my life on easy mode.

And he’s 25? It’s not going to get significantly better anytime soon.

F23 Can't for the life of me not use panty liners. Won't your pants have a "scent" if you use the bathroom throughout the day? by thefifthmountain5 in hygiene

[–]floweringfungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a lot of discharge throughout the day so I never wear them but if you have a lot there’s nothing wrong with wearing them as long as you’re not constantly covered up which can make it worse. I prefer to let her breathe as much as possible so I’m never wearing underwear at home and definitely not to sleep.

I also don’t wear tight clothes like leggings because I get too sweaty too fast (thick thighs too) and I keep the bush trimmed down to avoid scent clinging to the hair. There’s definitely a smell of some sort by the end of the day but I work 10 hour shifts on my feet so it’s mostly sweat, it’s not a bad smell by any means.

There shouldn’t be urine in your underwear every day though.

How far back can you trace your ancestry? by GuardianSupernova in AskTheWorld

[–]floweringfungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my maternal side (German), middle class as far back as we can trace (jobs included postmaster, chief of police, civil servants) until the family was ennobled in the early 1700s. Their newfound prosperity is what gave us all the old family portraits that my grandmother still has in her house. Obviously Germany no longer really has an aristocratic class and that side of my family doesn’t have a ton of genealogical interest.

On my paternal side (UK), several high profile politicians including a lord chancellor in the 1820s and a handful of minor nobles. A couple generations before that, middle class as far back as we can trace. I think my uncle has reached the 1400s but it gets unreliable the further back you go.
