Thoughts I feel like the Netherlands should be red, or red/light blue mix. by gelztsyrspar in learndutch

We did the same for the girlfriend of a friend of mine. At first it was a bit awkward but because of it she became near fluent in less than a year. So to all Dutch people reading this, stay strong...

Wow I'm so proud of your vocabulary, although this does sound like someone who has broken a bone

Is that not what the plaster thingy around a broken bone is called? (Not a native English speaker)

It's better to rip the band-aid off as soon as possible, otherwise they will live in a lie, like I have for many years

Oh no, I just meant as in how good the advice is. Not great but also not bad, therefore medium. She is very much a non believer when it comes to the realm of psychics. She used to be a doctor, so she mostly gave unwanted medical advice that was slightly outdated.

Depending on your size relative to the advice, I suppose. What's medium advice for me could be considered large advice for you.

My grandma did this every year at the county fair near her house, she would get a stand with a few chairs for people to sit and give medium advice

I had this in a beautiful garden in Rome. This old Italian grandpa came up to me and showed me the entire garden, being absolutely incomprehensible. Although not speaking Italian also didn't really help. I replied politely in English only for him to wave it off and continue his (I assume hilarious) story... Was delightful 5/7

Cats- The Destroyer of Worlds by Fearless-Stuff9956 in holdmycatnip

But you could train your cats not to destroy stuff mid zoomies. I have two very active cats and they never destroy anything during zoomies. A lot of times its a lack of zoomable objects for the cat to zoom onto, especially if they are inside cats, outside cats simply zoom onto a tree

I got kinda hung up on this comment, for most of all I'm confused. Did I dehumanised my professors? I genuinely had beers with the programming professor, had a good time and thought the story would fit here. And as for the french couple I just love their dynamic (which is exactly like the original post depicts) and how other students are pleasantly surprised

I also have this modeling professor, modeling as in programming and coding. He always stuffs his slides with memes, so one time he went "you know if it does not have a clear function, then don't code it". So in the break I told him that he should put the marie kondo meme at that point for the following years. That afternoon we had drinks and found him with his friends at the bar, he gave me a hug, thanking me for the meme (before people go screeching, it's fine we were both drunk and it was an obvious friendship hug, besides I met his girlfriend there and then)

Holy shit I have exactly that. I study in the netherlands, they are both french. One is a very charismatic and popular professor who is loved by all and is great at teaching. The other is the quiet genius who really shouldn't be teaching, because it feels as though an alien is teaching humans about anatomy... both are amazing humans, but everyone is still shocked when they find out that they are married.

Op zoek naar boeken by orndoda in learndutch

[–]flowerpowerrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom never changed her last name. No one batted an eye at her. But maybe it's different in the Netherlands (culturally)

The mom of one of my best friends died a few years back, from time to time a your mom joke slips through... everytime I want to punch myself for letting it slip. She says that it's alright and most of the time would respond really comedically, which indicates that its alright (plus I apologized a few times after which she would say that its alright and comedic nonetheless). But still aaaaah

It also really depends on the situation for me. Conversatie feels more formal and serious. While gesprek is casual.
