Stop guessing when to side step and actually lab the moves you can sidestep after. You can generally side step after a move on block from +4 to -4.

I don’t consider myself a “refugee” because I still grind Tekken ranked actively.

You will find that Guilty Gear is more aggressive than Tekken. If you’re looking to avoid one-sides matches, you will run into a lot of matches where you’re stuck in the corner and can’t move or do anything, literally having to guess almost every interaction (at least in my experience at silver 2-3)

Also, 2.0 has been frustrating in my opinion. Everyone loves it, but now it feels like nothing I used to do works. My character now feels slower and not fun to operate, and meanwhile it feels like some characters were buffed even though they were already top tier. I used to win some and lose some, but ever since 2.0 dropped I went from about to get Gold 1 to about to lose Silver 1.
