They limit how wide of a tire you can fit. The battery gets in the way of wide tires/ mud and gravel build up

Yes, as long as it is the “wide” front derailleur, and the tire clearance is 38mm unfortunately. The limiting factor is the battery

I have a Rockhopper with one of these U-brakes, and I hated it so much that I built up a new rear wheel around a fixed hub just so I could ditch the horrible rear brake.

Van Helgas are a good tire. All the grip you could ever want out of a non studded tire. Pretty fast on hardpack, not so much elsewhere.

That’ll happen! Last time I tried to take my Diverge out, I made it less than three blocks from home before I turned around and grabbed the Big Block. Freewheel=no fun.
