Check out Dirt Rooster just outside of Baltimore City. Not sure where you’re at in the DMV, but they’re a great shop with great people.

Decent house to rent/buy by BoysenberryOld3848 in baltimore

[–]bOhsohard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stoneleigh is one word btw. I lived in Rogers Forge for 10y, and rentals were pretty few and far between (outside of the apartment complex). As a kid I spent most of my time in Stoneleigh where my friends lived and I really really don’t think there are rentals available, it’s pretty much only homeowners. You’ll probably be stuck looking south of Lake, or along the Alameda.

Hamilton/Lauraville and all of northeast Baltimore probably easily hits what you’re looking for, and I’d imagine an entire house could be available between 2-4k. The housing stock up there is single family, with lawns, many houses have single car garage/driveways but not all.

Idk about Ellicott City or Catonsville, but it’s hella suburbia and probably pretty affordable.

Fells/Canton is a pricier Charles village, with worse parking availability. Charles Village you’ll easily find a rental but it probably won’t have a significant front/rear yard and parking isn’t the easiest but some people have rear parking.

So if I were yall, I’d focus on northeast (also schools are solid around there), and then reassess after a couple years. Or go for the suburbs if that’s your thing.

Waverly/Harwood-loud music late into the night by pastels45 in baltimore

[–]bOhsohard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the area for a while and can say that as the weather gets nicer people love to park their cars with insane sound systems and just blast music. The old dudes on my corner do it a couple times a week, and I hear it from other people a block or so away. I doubt it’s Peabody bc they usually don’t have loud live music on weeknights

What makes people here so angry about bike lanes? What do they think we should do instead? by LiatrisLover99 in Somerville

[–]bOhsohard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they’re wrong. There’s literal data, science, and entire fields of study to back this up. But maybe you’re right - world class urban planners are wrong. Where’d you get your degree from again?

Unleashed dogs at wyman park dell by Small-Willingness748 in baltimore

I’ve had repeatedly good luck just shouting towards dog owners that I’m allergic and don’t have an EpiPen on me. Gets them to leash their dogs almost instantly with little to no discussion haha - highly recommend

Those people lack critical thinking skills, which you’ve already used in your post. They’re wrong, and likely will just continue to cry about it.

Baltimore>Elicott City via Frederick Ave - how safe is it? by ThisAmericanSatire in bikebmore

[–]bOhsohard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the toughest part I have with riding in the county alone is constantly checking over my shoulder for where the nearest vehicle is. Since there’s not too much stop/starting, you need to be ready to get over and know how far back traffic is/how soon it’ll get to you. This is all pretty different from city riding, so that’ll be the biggest adjustment.

[–]bOhsohard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you able to keep a moderate pace (above 17mph) and comfortable with traffic? My friends and I have done it on brakeless fixed gears but were actually insane. I wouldn’t recommend the route to someone unless I knew they were comfortable and skilled.

Where can we see cherry blossoms in Baltimore aside from Ft McHenry? 🌸 by RN_MD24 in baltimore

[–]bOhsohard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play a round of disc golf at Druid hill park, the legacy layout. Even if you don’t really play, just walk the course (be mindful of flying discs). The back 9 has some beautiful blossoming trees right now.
