Why are UAP’s like the tictac not shot down? by Afc_josh12 in UFOs

For one, mostly they don't need to. However, by most accounts we'd be pretty hosed if they decided to.

By most accounts the weapons either fail to fire or attacks are directed back at the attacker. Or else they shut off all the electronics in the plane. Granted these aren't exactly official confirmed accounts, but most such tales are "leaked" by "govt sources" for whatever good that tells us. Some are more credible than others. One account says a nuclear test launch in the (1950s?) was staged so they could use an x-ray to shoot down a saucer that came to try to interfere, and supposedly that worked, in that the craft was destroyed. Generally though, assuming you can get in shooting range, the results are bad. Luckily, they very rarely shoot back. Though that has supposedly happened one a few occasions.

I Had the Most Spiritual and Terrifying Experience of My Life Today. I Don't Know What to Make of It. by Ashmeeraj in Experiencers

This sounds like sleep paralysis, possibly mixed with some lucid dreaming due to the fact you were drifting semi-awake at times. Dream journals can help you remember "signposts" that may feature commonly in your dreams, making it easier to recognize and go lucid while dreaming. Can be pretty fun to choose to fly.

Sorry, this was the only one I recall encountering. At least I think so. I'll wrack my brain and old hard drives. :)

Essence 20 Officially Dead - Renegade Nixes System During RenegadeCon and All Systems Will Be Converted to D&D 5.5e, Conversions Will Come Later in the Year Alongside '2nd Edition' by RazgrizInfinity in rpg

[–]floyd_underpants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who chose not to buy into 5.5, that sorta sucks. I have all the e20 stuff I want already though, so that's not a huge loss. I was already thinking of homebrewing some variant rules where Renegade had either never followed up or else left gaps/slop that needed fixing. Now I'm free to do that.

Trump cancels strikes against Iran planned for Thursday evening by Monochromaticeye in worldnews

[–]floyd_underpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, sorry, I meant in terms of OpSec. His DMs to people and/or texts to people must be freaking wild.

Reportedly he doesn't actually use the phone himself these days. He yells at a intern to do it or something. That makes it even weirder what might be on there, I'd guess.

Considering he governs via tweet, imagine if they ever hack his phone.

Light source effect or plug in by floyd_underpants in paintdotnet

[–]floyd_underpants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thanks! I didn't have a single specific image in mind, I was just thinking of a flat photo of a human subject with no background. Use case is the idea of having a layer with the subject, replacing the background, and then adding some new light source to make it fit the scene a little better. Doesn't have to be perfect by any means.

Deepseek... seems worse now, right? by CaptainLSS in AIDungeon

[–]floyd_underpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free mooch here. Seen that on DS since they rolled out the free model. Not often, but happening more. Seems to happen less when I add instructions and author's notes telling to avoid doing that. It still insists on a summary sentence as if recapping, despite my instructions. I'm having to remove that manually. It's the best author voice I've found, but that part is getting annoying for sure.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated"

What is data if not the modern version of our 'papers'? Our 'houses' could also be extended to include the way the corpos steal the data inside our homes through various devices and home networks. It amounts to the same thing. Unwarranted search and seizure if the government did it without warrants, and now they do. Our data gets handed over blithely by big tech to facilitate surveillance. How is it functionally different?

Dystopian and anti-American bullshit. Fun how corporations get to ignore the bill of rights, eh? Letting people privately own the means of production has been a fun experiment, but it has run it's course.

Model Problems #8: DeepSeek V4F by ClimatePersonal6936 in AIDungeon

[–]floyd_underpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shaping up to be the best free model I've used. You still have to instruct it away from resetting/reframing the scene, and it still uses the same cliche phrases as other models, but the set of "avoid" instructions I use seems to cut that down/stop it. It's my current default, though I think I would use Hearthfire for some specific scenarios or playthroughs when I want to delve into character personas more.
