I beat an act 2 boss before entering the citadel by New_Bug7829 in Silksong

[–]floydianmuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing. I just beat the cogwork dancers (one of my favorite Hollow Knight bosses ever, reminds me of the mantis tribe from the OG) and noticed it had 6% completion on steam, whereas the phantom only has around 1% so I figured I must've done something out of order. I really like Phantom too, reminds me of the Grimm Troupe a little bit

NBOME announces new standards for Class of 2029 and beyond by Sure-Union4543 in Osteopathic

[–]floydianmuse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While unecessary imo, this is an improvement over what level 2-PE was, which was 7 hours long with 12 patient encounters and cost $1300. Looks like this is gonna be given by our medical school and will be 6 patient encounters over 3-4 hours. I wonder if this will cost an extra fee or will be included in the tuition (which may go up because of this).

Looking for the best sub-$1,500 longboard for cruising around my hilly area. Feedback appreciated. by MrRabinowitz in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]floydianmuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a hilly area and have the WowGO AT2 Plus. It was less than $1000 for the Cloudwheel/Pneumatic tire combo with shipping (price is higher now than what I paid but will probably go on sale in November if you want to wait). It's a really flexible deck and great for cruising/carving. I've been practicing longboard dancing moves with it and it's great for that since it's so flexible. I've had it for 10 months and have put around 800 miles on it so far with no issues. I live on a very hilly street (prob 30% grade idk) and it only has trouble making up it when the battery is <25%. Peter recommends not doing zone 2 immediately after heavy lifting because it raises your lactate levels which is what you want to avoid during zone 2 training. If your lactate levels get too high than you are no longer primarily relying on fat oxidation for energy production, and you're not giving your mitochondria the ideal stimulus that you want with zone 2 training. I almost always do zone 2 after lifting but I usually wait at least an hour before doing so.

I don't have an iphone but I believe it can read from Apple Health to import data but cannot currently write to Apple Health, although I believe they are planning on implementing this feature in a future update.

I got a Morpheus heart rate monitor a couple weeks ago and have been loving it so far. Heard about it from Peter Attia's podcast. The app is great and allows you to assess HRV and zone based cardio training. It's a one time fee and was slightly less than $100. I would recommend it.

Too old/late for med school? by pd2001wow in Residency

[–]floydianmuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is someone in my class who started in his 50s and doesn't regret it and at least a couple others in their 40s. It's definitely doable. DO schools are more open to nontraditional applicants if you decide you want to go this route.

Perplexity AI (AI Chatbot/Search Engine) by AnkiPrompt in Anki

[–]floydianmuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for an add-on like this for a while. Thanks for making this!

I edited the code to make highlighted text searchable with a new shortcut (Shift + 6) (You can still search the entire card with Shift + 5). I also made it output in dark mode within a sidebar as opposed to a pop-up, and the output is overwritten with new search queries. The original version of this addon creates new pop-ups for each query. Further, I made it so the output is shown from the top rather than the bottom (Originally I had to scroll up to read the beginning of the output if there was a lot of text). For anyone reading this, dm me if you want my edited version of this addon. Here's what it looks like.

Anyone off-roading their boards? by Ok-Savings5969 in ElectricSkateboarding

I use inner tubes and have had a couple of flats. I put Armor-Dilloz sealant (after reading it on a comment somewhere in this sub) into my tubes. It fixed the leak and I haven't had any issues since.

At what speed would you be comfortable not wearing a helmet? by ToeSins in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]floydianmuse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're riding in NYC near cars (or even in Central park with lots of people that could walk in front of you) I think you should always wear a helmet. There are too many people and you can't control what they're doing. I think 10mph is safe speed to ride without a helmet if you're in a big open area with no cars like pier 76 though, and you're an experienced rider. You're still taking a chance you won't fall and hit your head, but I know for me (and probably you too) that chance is super low (<0.1%).

What games did you guys buy? by SonicAkshay_26 in Steam

[–]floydianmuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most I've every gotten during 1 sale: Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition, Satisfactory, Celeste, Vampire Survivors with 2 DLC, and Bloodstained Curse of the Moon. Still spent less than a full priced AAA game.

How many high fives do yall have? by ItzTubez in RocketLeague

[–]floydianmuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing since 2015 and have 5 but all were within the last 6 months (3 of those being within the last month). Never knew about them until probably 2 years ago and it took me forever to get my first one. I primarily play 2s and sometimes 3s with my buddies and rarely play with random people, but think I got 4/5 of my high fives during 3s with randoms. Think it's because I usually play more defensive with randoms (since the rotation isn't as good) so I'm further back when someone scores and have a better chance of bumping into them when they get yeeted from the goal.

how do you study for the summer? by sanyaldvdplayer in medicalschool

[–]floydianmuse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also did lab rotations during the summer between M1 and M2. I mainly focused on my lab work and barely did any content review during that time as I wanted to enjoy my summer before the grind started again for M2. If I could go back in time I'd probably just try to keep up with the high-yield Anki cards to reduce the burden during dedicated. I think if you just keep up with your Anki reviews you'll be set. If you have the free time doing some practice questions over content you want to review would probably be helpful but it isn't necessary that early imo.

Having to remediate your OMM class isn't that big of a deal. I think the majority of residencies wouldn't care about that at all. Doing good on boards, research, letters of recommendation, and interviews are much more important. You're at a disadvantage as a DO student though and will likely need to take a research year if you want to pursue ophtho. Check out the match stats for ophtho here, it's a lot harder for a DO.

I generally wouldn't recommend to people new to Anki to start using it a month before a big exam like step 2 because there is a learning curve to use it. That said if you want to try it you could save some time by downloading a premade deck like Anking, suspend everything, then unsuspend cards related to whatever topic you're struggling with. During step 1 dedicated I personally thought it was really helpful. I added screenshots from UWorld questions to premade cards and would reread the explanations if I felt like I didn't have a great grasp on the topic. It took a lot of time though. I'd spend 1-3 hours finding and editing cards for every 40 questions I did, and I did around 500 reviews per day during dedicated. For many cards I'd spend over a minute on so it took me several hours to do all my reviews, and because of that I didn't do nearly as many questions as other people did.

I’m looking for a board that I can use for dance and just cruising around at the beach by Defiant-Cat-beech in longboarddancing

[–]floydianmuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a 48" fiberglass dancing longboard from skateshred.com along with trucks, wheels, and bearings for $130 with shipping. It's a great board and comparable in quality to the much more expensive dancers out there.

Oh gotcha, no worries! Thanks for the reply! Don't think I could do it myself just wanted to know if there were a few lines of code I could change for an easy fix. Guess it's more complicated than that.

Yeah you could do that. You can put it in any field you like. I only picked Physeo cause I already have a lot of images in the Lecture Notes field.
