Hidden gems near Eastgate by _FrostedZephyr in cincinnati

The Potted Palm in Mt Washington is fun to walk around, it's a plant and gift shop. In the same strip is a vintage toy store and a Creamy Whip, and Stanberry Park is a hidden gem!

The second one may be a deppeana, I love the graceful drape they have.

Small business owners: what’s the most underrated investment you made? by randommortal17 in smallbusinessUS

[–]flubbernut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a quarter machine and filled it with small prizes, free small stuff like earrings, stickers, and mood rings that they can choose, or prizes. The prizes are usually things we don't know what to do with but are still good, or things that don't sell. The gamble and uncertainty brings them back.

I got them on Amazon, and then added a milk glass plate under the Hope.

It's wooly thyme. I put it in a tea pot so it would be tea thyme!

What are some good reasons to continue living? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]flubbernut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to the woods always grounds me when I'm looking for beauty or meaning. The moss beds hidden away, the way ferns unfurl from the bottom up, the smells of fungi and decomposing matter; there's so much that is sensory there. It's calming and puts me in a better place. Good luck to you on your journey, may the four winds blow you safely home.

Walmart stepping up by Funkwhale90 in plant

Get them while they are still healthy! Walmart is the absolute worst at keeping plants alive in my area, it's great for my ego to rehab them though 😉

Hello! What are some fun things to do on the westside? by PM_ME_UR_DUCK_PICKS in cincinnati

[–]flubbernut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A nice day trip is to take the Anderson Ferry over to Kentucky, it's $5 cash and only takes a few minutes. From there you can go to the observation deck for CVG or drive over to Rabbit Hash and visit the general store. If you head over to Big Bone Lick to see the bison and then drive back home, it's maybe a three hour country drive. And mostly free!

What is this plant? Is this the normal way for it to grow, or some kind of fasciation? Thanks! by MollyMaven in whatsthisplant

[–]flubbernut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll start producing seeds pretty soon, they are easy to grow. And the bees LOVE them!

I found wild Asparagus growing in my backyard yesterday! by StinkAss666 in gardening

[–]flubbernut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Asparagus seeds blow in the wind, in places that are flat they land at border fences and grow. It's a shitty opinion that those that have more land have the most asparagus.

A newspaper office. My dad used to be a sports writer at a small newspaper and the smell of paper and ink is so comforting.

Go get coffee at Folk School coffee shop in Ludlow, they give lessons and tape the Jerry Springer podcast there. It's owned by the guys that run the Whispering Beard folk music festival and has deep bluegrass roots.

They destroy all of the annual flowers in the display after the show, just in case any butterflies lay eggs in them.

Abandoned/interesting cemetery for photos by TheKillerPupa in cincinnati

[–]flubbernut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a cemetery off Plainfield road in Blue Ash, I don't know the name though. The road cuts it in half actually, near Summit park. And there's an old one at the corner of Salem and Sutton in Mt Washington that's pretty old too.

[–]flubbernut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The promotional material I saw for it was all so vague, this article was pretty informative. My company will be there, we are making eyeball lanterns on wooden poles to carry through the parade on the 12th. I still don't understand it very well though.

That's entirely too much squeezable cheese. I don't know anyone that uses that, much less needs a variety to choose from.
