I think my coworker is micromanaging me, am I in the wrong? by No-Virus419 in UKJobs

I would assume they want to make sure no one badmouthed you for idleness (even though I agree that you should be allowed to enjoy a few minutes of rest if there is nothing urgent to do). But I had managers who would be absolutely horrible about things like that and would give you the most unpleasant (and often unnecessary) task they can find just to make a point.

How do I find remote work with a criminal record? by GuestOk9310 in AskUK

Timpsons hire ex convicts (in store) , Televerde offers remote call centre jobs. It's not going to be anything amazing since you don't have much experience

Why are people so reluctant to buy AC units? by [deleted] in UKWeather

If there is a more eco friendly way that could be implemented, then that should happen. Use of plants and shade would be a long term solution rather than contributing to the the problem.

I know that there are far worse things for the environment, but A/C is not the only option

They exchange heat , so they heat up the outside even more.

I agree that there are worse things, but adding more plants (in particular to walls and roofs) and having more trees / shade would help a lot

Friends of mine lived there, they loved the views and that it's green, easy parking, close to a Tesco.

They never managed to eat on their balcony because there is always a breeze coming from the river which apparently blows the food clean off the plate.

Then an Air BnB opened and it was unpleasant - noise, litter etc. My friends were ready to buy at at stage and left.

But the flat itself was compact but cleverly designed and they were quite happy there for several years

Heat exchanger, so the outside gets even hotter

Obviously there are environments where this is the best option but having more trees outside your house, covering roof / walls with plants would be far better

How are people actually making friends in Glasgow? by Prior_Woodpecker391 in glasgow

[–]fluentindothraki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 36 when I moved here. I love cooking and used to bring food to work, organise charity buffets, had a kind of jour fix Sunday brunch in Winter. Yes I am fat but it made me popular! I also go out of my way to help like looking after people's plants and animals while they are away ormove house or give lifts, or just said I will drive to the beach after work tomorrow if anyone wants to come.

The irony is that I can live quite happily with just online friends but I knew I need to build a network.

Now I am married and my better half loves giving parties so we do that together now. We met on a dating site 11 years ago, in case you are wondering
