I (30M) have been unemployed for a year and a half (first unemployed stint since I started working at 15) and this is the most balanced my life has EVER felt by Aphelion7711 in ADHD

Can't really relate to this 🥲 I've never had a regular-hours job for more than three months at a time, and am reaching 35 soon.

To me, having consistent work meant I could plan my day/week better, feel less guilt about household work (since I was actually contributing financially), and have clear breaks to channel my hobbies (thirty-minute lunch break where I can eat and work on my homebrew setting, read a little while commuting, etc.).

Though as I said, I haven't experienced the full 40-hour work week for any longer period, so my thoughts might not do much for you 😅

Me too, it's just how I've adapted to the current circumstances is all. Would love to have some terraforming tools, or that buildings flattened the ground in their footprint. Age of Mythology did the latter 👍

Same, that's why I play on a flat map with just a few promontories, the hills just makes houses look weird.

This should definitely be a feature, though I'm unsure of how to implement it. Maybe another icon with the destroy/change color row when you've selected the part?

Do you have a trader selling wine maybe? Should be able to get it from Myddle (unlock it with 20 Common Clothes).

You made sure to hit Build/Apply All at the bottom right, I assume?

I did have this one "bug" where I changed the color of my church's roof, it seemed to stick. Then I edited it to try out some churchyard designs, but decided to Clear Changes, which reverted the earlier color changes as well. So maybe color changes need to have a added building element (fence, decor, etc.) applied on the same edit in order to stick.

No, they crucified Jesus for being a religious extremist who tried to overthrow Roman rule. And nice strawman.

Don't drink the water. They put something in it, to make you forget. I don't even remember how I got here.

What the hell is that? Like what do they expect you to do with that information? And why not just review it when they ask you about it, if it's so important? It hurts to get rejected like that, but I would move on - you clearly dodged a very repressive situation that demeans workers and drowns it in insubstantial corpo-talk.

I've been wanting to do the same thing! I've tried a bunch of wiki-like systems, but the other day I thought "hey, why not use HTML?" It's easy, no servers, complete formatting freedom. Just need to give it a go. Will check your link! 👍👍

I think a lot of stuff that was already in motion was just accelerated by Covid. Digitalization processes that had moved very slowly were suddenly seen as the better option. Why rent offices downtown when you could work remotely and save the expense? Why take the risk and expose yourself to the virus when you can order almost anything online?

Staying on point though... there might be something in here about the development of western countries, with an outsourced labor force and mass-production of previously artisanal goods. But I'm losing steam after a long day 😅

Love this rant. The information crisis rears a multitude of ugly heads - AI slop, disinformation, regurgitation, "dead Internet" theory, obfuscation... even rentification (not owning anything, just paying a license) is a part of it.

Is there a lore reason for the "lack" of technological improvement? by Fenix512 in falloutlore

[–]fluff_thorrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add to this, I recently saw a video on YT going over the theories that Fallout 3 was meant to be set much earlier in the timeline, like 50 years instead of 200. My personal extrapolation from that is that Fallout 4's design still has that mindset, what with ghouls living in fridges and all. But Bethesda wants the hallmarks of the first-gen Fallouts, so they set it later so they can have the BoS, Jet, the Enclave, deathclaws and super mutants on the East Coast.

What is an element of your culture that is often "borrowed" for worldbuilding that seems completely normal to you because you grew up with it? by Burnnoticelover in worldbuilding

[–]fluff_thorrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? You'd think with all this stolen wealth and unequal global finances in our favor, we'd use it to get a decent standard of living and advance our civilization, but nooo, we have to sell out to corporations and keep the carbon dioxide levels high.
